gee - how about that a government funded organization that specifically and deliberately lies and misleads the citizens of this country... tell me again why we can't outsource the CDC to something more useful like a call center in Bangalore [B] Against ALL enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC

Yes, 12131, make you nostalgic for when the AMA was a powerful pro-medicine lobbying group. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Very true! RMD TL Davis: “The Second Amendment is special, not because it protects guns, but because its violation signals a government with the intention to oppress its people…” Remember: After the first one, the rest are free.

Um, yeah, working myself up to being shocked. Back later. I remember when the CDC was initially tasked w/ this and thinking, "what the hell do firearms have to do w/ disease?" Clinton.

Since these are publicly funded studies, have they been available through FOIA all along or have they been buried?

I believe they have been available in theory but only if you went searching for or knew about the questions. Not sure how Kleck found out about them. These surveys done by the CDC are massive and can contain hundreds of questions I believe. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Actually, the CDC did publish a report that said there was up to 2.5 million uses of firearms for defensive purposes in 2015. Kleck and Gertz 's 1995 and Kleck's 2001s study is both referenced. Here is an article on the report: link Here is a link to the study: link. Go to page 45 and look for the section titled Protective Effects of Gun Ownership If you take the time to dig through some of the CDC publications you can find some interesting things. But, because it doesn't fit the grabber's narrative they don't mention it.

CD228, thanks for posting the link. However, the report, which was not by CDC but by the National Academy of Sciences, preceded the CDC surveys which Kleck has found; the report does mention Kleck's research, but specifically does not mention corroboration by large national surveys. There may be CDC reports on protective gun use, but this is not one of them. So in my opinion Kleck's finding that the CDC is not reporting its own survey data that contradict the gun control ideology remains correct. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

From the report I linked: This project was supported by awards between the National Academy of Sciences and both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (#200-2011-38807) and the CDC Foundation with the ................. So, the CDC funded it along with several other donors. I just sat down and read the new Kleck document and it looks like the CDC was asking similar questions to the two Kleck surveys, but to a larger test sample size. The CDC apparently kept the data to itself instead of releasing it and further validating Kleck's work.
