Whom ever thought those things up , was the original shitferbrains yahoo.

I fund no advantage what so ever for them, and they need to be done away with, they have to be a dangerous hazard to children.

two knobs, handles or valves !
thats the way God planned it and thats the way it should be.

take all of them and , well put two valves in their place, the sooner the better

Heck I'm just the opposite I like single handles. They're completely safe in a shower (at least mine are with adjustable hot limit control). And for the kitchen I like to pull the nozzle out with it's hose to spray around while controlling the water with my other hand. Two handles for bath sinks are ok.

Used to like the two-handled ones over one but I've changed. Maybe it's I like to be able to quickly with one hand turn on the water and adjust the temp.

What I dislike is how most shower controls have gone to just adjusting the temp. No control for water pressure. Guess with all the restricted flow on shoers today there is no need to be able to adjust flow.

How are they a hazard to children?

One advantage is that they are easy to turn off with an elbow after washing your hands. Not quite as good as hospital step on the pedal to make the water run taps, but way better than two round knobs that you have to put you hands on to turn off.

I don’t understand what the issue is that bothers you about them.

Are you also against lever handles for doors? These can be easier to operate when carrying a load, but can also reach out and snag things as you go by...

Agree completely. After getting disgusted with one-handle faucets I bought a pair of Grohe two-handle lavatory faucets. They’re wonderful! Handles turn smoothly with no stiction, and positive stops at each travel limit. (Two handle choices are sold separately.)

Well over FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for a faucet that does not even come with handles?

Nope, definitely not for me!

You could buy a nice used P226 for that kind of money.

Funny you should mention this.....My project for the morning is to replace a two valve setup in the kitchen, only had it about a year, with a single lever with sprayer in the spout. 4 hole sink, so soap dispenser goes in the far right, two blanking plugs in the other two. In fact, any SF member that wants the old one, email me your address and it will come your way. Karma rules: First I will take it gets it.

Just replaced a Grohe single lever in the kitchen with a Hansgroghe Talis M that I got the wife for Christmas from Costco. Much rather have the single handle. Cleaner look.

The problem with mine is I cant accurately adjust the the water temperature quickly and easily. I have to bump it multiple times to get the right setting.

Put me in the single handle camp.

I loathe dual control faucets.

My grip with single faucets are the ones that “sense” you sticking your hands under them in order to wash, like the ones in public restroom spaces; THEY NEVER WORK—sensor is “senseless”. GRRR. Mad

Your sinks are low enough for a baby to reach the handle? Either your counters are really low or your babies are really tall.

A baby that can reach the single handle to turn on the water and swing it all the way over to hot could just as easily turn on only the hot side of a two valve system. I have great difficulty seeing this as a real problem. Then again, our water heater at home is tankless so even on full hot, it will not scald. The water heater that serves our hangar apartment is not tankless, is cranked *way* up to try to avoid running out of hot water if all four of us need to shower. That is a royal pain in the neck to get the shower temp right on because small adjustments result in large temperature swings. I’d argue that this is more about how hot the water heater is set and less about the type of valve though...

If you have a cat, you don't want faucets to be too easy to operate.

Smile

Stiction: The term is a portmanteau of the words stick and friction:

You try to move a faucet handle. It doesn’t move. You apply more force. It still doesn’t move. You apply even more force. It still doesn’t effing move. You apply even more force. Then it finally moves – more than intended. That’s “stiction”. I hate it, and I’m thankful that my Grohe Atrio doesn’t have it.
