Good morning all! Late in the afternoon of 25-OCT, his Honer, Judge Pittman, extended the existing Temporary Restraining Order for a second time to 16:00 8-NOV (tomorrow) for the purpose of ordering both parties to mediation with Texas State Mediators. That meeting was held Tuesday 26-OCT. I'm just personally connecting the dots here, as NOTHING about the mediation has been conveyed to us, but I don't think mediation went very well at all, as AE4HF organized a Peaceful Demonstration rally outside our HQ in Chicago this past Wednesday, 3-NOV. As a WONDERFUL surprise, CFD's drum corps joined the rally (they're under the gun, too!) to keep cadence as the march went on...SO appreciate their support!! Also present were members of Chicago's finest to keep rabble rousers at bay...don't think there were any incidences at all (unlike at other *AHEM* "peaceful protests" that have been held in the past); MUCH appreciated!! There was also another rally being held not far away, but unrelated to Airline Employees in general...mostly local folks of Chicago from all industries protesting this nonsense. Chicago local news carried a story about both protests in one report and one of our Command Generals had a video spot for about 10 seconds in that "news" coverage. On Thursday 4-NOV, our principal CG group (three WONDERFUL ladies carrying this torch) flew to D.C. to meet with several members of Congress. Our D.C.-based legal team was kind enough to introduce our CG group to 6 or 7 Congressmen and Reps supporting this cause, to include Sens. Cornyn and Cruz of Texas. I believe they had a round-table discussion with Sen. Ron Johnson as well, that yielded good support and awareness to what we're fighting. If mediation had gone well, I don't think either of these events would have been pursued or necessary, as we would be preparing to go back to work. Given these events and the (speculated) failure of mediation, the Preliminary Injunction is now back in Judge Pittman's hands and he will do one of the following by 16:00 tomorrow: 1) Extend the TRO once again to allow himself more time to thoroughly review the arguments of the case and then rule or, 2) Hand down a ruling People have asked why is he taking so long??? Simple...Judge Pittman knows his decision will be appealed regardless of who he rules in favor. He has to make sure every "i" is dotted and every "t" crossed to avoid ANYTHING from the proceedings in his court being overturned. Even something as "simple" as why he may have sustained an objection when it should have been overruled and inadmissible or vice versa...I don't envy his position at all, because he knows SOMEONE will be totally PO'd when he hands down his decision. At any rate, that's where we stand...just awaiting the stroke of 16:00 tomorrow or sooner. Thanks to EVERYONE for your support, whether it be moral, financial, spiritual, or all of the above!!! Blessings to all!! ETA: I have NO idea if the recent ruling by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans has any bearing on our case or standing at all. We have not heard anything from our leadership team regarding whether that affects us one way or the other. What I find absolutely POSITIVE about that decision, though, is that if/when our case goes to the Appellate Court, it will go before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. Perhaps a little humor from God??? "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D.
