A school in Northern Kentucky handed out a word search puzzle. Found within the puzzle (I think-it's pixelated) is the "n-word." I read five different articles about it. All are filled with apologies and angst. I have a couple of questions which, of course, were not answered:

Was the word on the list of words to search, or was it a random collection of letters formed when creating a puzzle? I've done a LOT of word search puzzles, and almost every one contains at least two "unintended" words.

Why is something this simple worthy of such coverage? Are people so sensitive that ONE WORD creates intolerable offense?

I'd really like to live in a rational world. Also, if this is SO OFFENSIVE, why is the "YT" term so acceptable?

YT is probably acceptable because it's a racial slur against white people. At least, it has been in the context of videos I've seen.

New York state issued license plates with APE-1234, etc. Some people refused to accept those and were issued non-APE plates. Curiously, FKN-1234 plates were okay. Strange what upsets people.

Sorry: Too late now.

The vast majority of US citizens have allowed themselves to be bullied into accepting that such things are far more important than avoiding diseased thinking. If anything at all were necessary other than, “It was a mistake,” those who saw and were concerned about it could have used it to discuss how and why racial and other slurs are harmful to civilized societies.

The fact that it was just something to serve as an excuse to attract attention by becoming hysterically offended is just one of many reasons why I despair at the state of the Nation, and can see no possibility of any improvement.

I hate it when "influencers" try to use statistics. I recently had a debate (yeah, I know) on social media over a post using statistics. This moron was trying to compare disparate time periods. The period from 1492 to 2025 is in NO WAY comparable to the period from 1925 to 2025. But, he had really pretty graphics.
