Almost every weekday morning for the last >2 months I have gotten calls on my cell phone from this number. In keeping with my policy of not answering calls from anyone not on my contact list, I didn't answer. I set the phone to block them some time ago, but they still appear on the recent calls list to this day. A quick search indicated that this number belongs to a scammer. Don't they get some kind of message saying the number is blocked, and don't they ever give up? Roll Eyes

Phone scam bots are like the Terminator - they can’t be reasoned with and they will never stop until you are dead!

And they still call once you are dead.

They don’t get any message that the number is blocked. In any case, it’s a computer doing the calling, and it won’t matter to it.

Also kind of old news. After a rash of calls from this number and repeated ones from several others, I did a search for the numbers and found they all appeared to come from a common source: a collection agency euphemistically named Midland Credit Management. There was, is and should be no reason for such a business to contact me. There have been no other attempts to contact me by other means, and no hits to my credit. I don't know what the deal was with these people. But after blocking all the numbers, I haven't gotten any more calls. In fact, the number of spam/scam calls in general is down sharply over the last month.

They're busy doing other things right now.

At the last car dealership I worked at we all had our own assigned phone numbers mainly for our personal voicemails. About three months before I retired I started getting voicemails for someone I had never heard of so I just cleared them and went on. One day I received two “live” calls asking for this person.

Both callers, one was Verizon, both regarding past due accounts. Verizon finally said that whoever opened the account used my corporate phone number as an alternate contact number.

I gave them the main phone number of the dealership and said that I would put the number they called on hold, they could listen to the looped message. Told them to call the main number, ask for me by my first name in parts and I would answer it and would this prove beyond a doubt that they were calling a business.

They said “don’t bother, we understand” and hung up.

I have a TracPhone to use as a backup in case my Iphone is damaged or lost. I only turn on the TracPhone about once a week just to see if anyone has called it. Apparently, the number once belonged to "Deonna". Deonna evidently owes all kinds of people all kinds of money and has stiffed them all. So they endlessly call her. The most persistent of this group is Deonnas cable TV provider. It seems that Deonna kept the cable box after they cut off her service. For fun, I decided to answer this call. I told them I was Deonnas grandfather and was using her phone. They demanded the cable box back. I said "Deonna told me to tell you that she is keeping the cable box and you can go fuck yourself"! The cable folks told me they were going to file theft charges against Deonna. Have not heard from them since but I am now wondering if Deonna is in jail. Over a cable box! Roll Eyes
