Bought a p320 FCU. Sent it in and it was a quick turnaround. Shipped Friday and tracking said Monday. So, changed my schedule to be home Monday.

Got notification this morning that it was going to be delivered today. Had plans to be gone for a few hours so...I figured that if they tried to deliver while I was gone, no biggie. Adult signature required. They will just deliver Monday.

I get a text alert it was delivered and I had signed fir it. Called FedEx, right away and they said. Yes, delivered and you signed for it. How can I if I am 30 miles away?! They said they look into it. And they get back to me ASAP.

Got home 2 hours later, it was sitting on my porch.

I am not calling them. I am going to see what their explanation will be.

In my experience none of the carriers are much good at "looking into it". We've had expensive ordered items left at the curb at the driveway entrance, visible to any passing vehicles. The driver(s) couldn't walk just 20 feet to the door.

I complained and never received an explanation.

I haven't signed for any adult signature required stuff since covid. UPS left my suppressor at my garage door the other day.

Got a large check from a tenant farmer the other day via USPS. Was sent registered, signature required with a return receipt. Left in the mailbox, no signature from me, and the return receipt was torn off by someone and returned to the farmer without me ever seeing it. I’m sure covid is the excuse for not following their normal procedures.

The same thing happened to me with FedEx. I ordered ammo from Sig and it ships signature required. They left it on my porch and I had signed for it, while I was at work!!!

My FedEx guy is pretty good. He knows I work from home so he hits the doorbell and knocks. I used to sign but Covid means we wave at each other and all good. If I don't show, he doesn't leave the package. Can't ask for more.

I also signed up for FedEx notification, I get text alerts on the status of packages.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Most carriers are not having the signature required tags signed "due to covid". Seems like "Covid" is an excuse for bad customer service now. I had a few packages left and the signature confirmation said "C-19" for the signature.

when contact is made just inform them that the package contained a firearm that is now missing and you are contacting law enforcement/ ATF/ as well as the FBI and watch them pee in their pants. ......................................... drill sgt.

That is exactly what I thought!

I wondered how long would I get to keep it?

If it's any consolation, every single driver who delivered a signature-required item without you guys' signatures is at high risk of being fired. They may have an excuse such as a neighbor signed for you, but that's also against the regs.

I've had 2 guns left on my doorstep over the years. First was a Sig P220 that had work done at a gunsmith. I made sure I was home all day to accept the package and they never even rang the doorbell.

Second was my P229 coming back from Bruce Gray. Same story.

Similar situation here.

Back in October, I ordered a new desktop computer. I (mistakenly) assumed it would require a signature for delivery. Nope.

Came home to find it sitting on the bench by the front door. They didn't even put it on the ground where it might be a little more difficult to see from the street. Mad

Nothing new...
Years ago I came out the door as a Fed-X guy was scribbled my name on his electronic clipboard for a package he dropped on the porch. I knew the delivery required a sig so I ask if he needed me to sign, he replied nope, have a nice day!

Been there several times. The worst was a rifle that was shipped to me. An old Winchester 94, shipped in a fairly small box.

UPS left a carbine sized box, with the return address of "such and such Gun Shop", on my front steps all day and all evening, on FUCKING HALLOWEEN! No, not like anyone or any kids might come across that! I was shocked it was still there when I got home that night.

FedEx left a 320 pistol on my doorstep last summer. No signature from me and no COVID to blame. It was there when I got home thankfully.

It wasn’t the value I was pissed about but the fact it was a fully functional gun that could have been stolen.

I had a 15” sub delivered (heavy and large package) from FedEx yesterday. It was likewise adult signature required due to the price. I was home, thankfully, but when I opened the front door the FedEX guy was like “you’re home so I can just leave it there” but he was already in his van, and on his way out, when I opened up the door. Fucking Covid man. People are stealing packages around here. I would have a thief on camera and could turn the footage over to the PD but once the package is gone good luck recovering. More packages coming for me over the next week. Need to be diligent about being home and watching my tracking numbers if they are out for delivery. Just hate having to be stuck at home when I have things to do.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I have a slightly different twist in my case. Several years ago, FedEx delivered a pistol to me (a non-FFL) leaving it my front door. Wasn't their fault, however. It was the stupid sending FFL's fault, shipping it to me instead of my FFL, with no signature required. I was pissed. Brought it to my FFL to complete the transfer process legally.

pre covid,

FedEx driver pulls in my driveway, goes about 100yds down (drive is 200yrds) calls me an say for me to come get my shit or it will go back,

a couple phone calls and I never had that driver again,

meanwhile,

5 cars in front of my shop, sign at the fork in our drive saying FedEx UPS Deliveries with an arrow pointing to the shop, and the driver goes past, leaves a tag on the door and leaves,

customer in the shop waiting for the firearm, fedex was apologetic, but delivered 2 days later,,

rifle left leaning against a tree by the road,
pistol tossed on the front porch, in the rain, no baggy over it, and I was in the shop,

now, if the shipper allows it, I divert to a FedEx/Kinko's near by instead of dealing with Ground,

the Express people seem to have a clue , and are good to deal with,
