No calls whatsoever from them as of today. I am going with the suggestion of calling them and asking them who at FedEx should the ATF and the Sheriff should talk to about the missing firearm.

Frankly, I was nervous all the way home thinking that SIG has shipped enough pistols that some of the FedEx employees already know what is inside from the return label.

I remembered that was the case in the late 90s that caused both UPS and FedEx to require firearms to be shipped only next day or second day air...too many guns were stolen in transit.

UPS left a carbine sized box, with the return address of "such and such Gun Shop", on my front steps all day and all evening, on FUCKING HALLOWEEN! No, not like anyone or any kids might come across that! I was shocked it was still there when I got home that night.

I'm not excusing the driver's behavior in your traumatic delivery experience, but don't expect delivery drivers to look at the return address of every (or any) package they deliver.
They really don't have time for such nonsense..

I always try and be home when powder and primers are delivered. The guy just shows up and asks me my name.

I was buying a lot of stuff off eBay a while ago. I heard the UPS driver pull up and ran outside to meet him. He was visibly angry about something and just threw my packages on the sidewalk and drove off.

I finally took a close look at the stack of boxes a few days later and discovered I had one that belonged to my neighbor. I talked to the guy and he was having claim issues about the package. It seems the driver and UPS said he signed for it.

I called today and spoke to someone from FedEx. Told them that I need to find the package or they need to provide me with names so I can file with the ATF and the local sheriff. They said there is an open case and someone will get back to me.

Please excuse my confusion but,
In you OP, you say it was "sitting on my porch."
Can you clarify what firearm you are missing?

Wait... You have the pistol, and are leading FedEx to believe it was stolen?

Yeah, even the title of the post is "Fed Ex just left a pistol on my porch", so I'm confused.

If the OP has the pistol and reports it stolen, what can be expected?

Sounds like Beanhead is trying to get a second pistol for free. I've seen customers try shady stuff like this on occasion. Usualy, delivery scans will rule out misdelivery accusations.

I dunno, but I'm not certain he's completely thought this through.

I had some dumbass send a gun Express mail, signature waiver...I shit you not. When I got to the shop, they weren't open yet, technically I should have just left it on the front step. I went back later and delivered it, and told them that, they didn't seem to care.

No, I am not trying to get a second gun. That would have to involve me filing a false police report...and I don’t like jumpsuits.

I am merely trying to get their attention to leaving the package without a signature. I want to see what their response is.

They basically left a pistol on my porch...and it has been almost 3 days without someone contacting me. I just want some urgency from them.

And what do you suppose their reaction might be when they find you've made them jump through hoops just to provoke a response from them?

In case OP is not aware, FedEx has suspended Signature Required for most shipments.
Look here, under COVID-19, https://www.fedex.com/en-us/coronavirus.html

On top of that, OP just flat out told them a lie, telling them to find the package, basically threatening them with filing report with LE/ATF, when he actually has possession of it. SMH.

Didn’t they lie first by saying I sign for the package when I didn’t and not informing me that they suspended signatures when I called?

Okay..maybe I shouldn’t have push the issue. But surely they should have gotten back to me.

I’ll call tmrrw to let them know. Just pissed that it was just sitting there.

FedEx left two packages at our business an hour after we closed today. I got an email indicating one had been delivered. We contacted the pizza shop adjacent to our store and they said they weren’t left there. I called fedex and the automated system indicated they were delivered and my brother signed for them (which he definitely had not). He lives closer so he went to the store and found the packages “hidden” by the dumpster. Glad it wasn’t raining. Not sure they would have been there tomorrow morning. Oh well, no blood no foul I guess.

Two wrongs don't make a right, J. Wink You have now actually made the situation a little sticky for yourself, imo.

I know you said it's been 3 days, but then, when I see your sig line, "You can only control what you can control", the irony is just, well, ironic. Big Grin
You can't know or control what they're doing. They might still be in the process of investigating a "lost" pistol.

Well, I don’t think I have made the situation sticky by what I did. I was probably wrong in pushing it when I called today. But they never tried to contact me on Saturday. Even though they told me it was a priority. Someone should have reached out to me.

When I call tomorrow, I will explain exactly what I did.

$2,000+ laptop coming to me FEDEX with signature required from a fellow member here... (I was not seriously worried because it was insured for $2500)... supposed to get here Friday afternoon.. do the trace.. it was not picked up at the local shipping place (independent) until 4:30.... then supposed to get here Saturday....out for delivery all day but still out for delivery at 9:00 that night. Sunday morning at 11:30 my wife and I are sitting in our TV room at our the virtual church service and I hear a truck pull up out front and go check. FEDEX driver is leaving package by front door... he had signed for me.

Srsly? You don't think lying to a shipper about a federally regulated transaction was a bad idea?
