And they have reminded me of this in no less than 6 phone calls, 3 texts, 2 emails, 1 notification on my TV, and 1 notification from their app on my tablet. I answered the phone twice and talked to an advanced troubleshooting specialist both times. Both times they offered to try and fix the problem over the phone and both times I politely explained that unless they planned to fly themselves here from Mumbai and fix the wiring between my house and their equipment, they'd be wasting my time and theirs.

The 4 times I didn't answer, I let it go to voicemail. The message says due to COVID, if they have to enter my home, I and anyone else in my home are required to wear a mask and stay 10 feet away from them or stay in another room. Any pets must remain locked up.

I've got low signal to my TV, my modem has pages of error messages indicating intermittent connection losses, my modem's connection page says only 60% off the normal 24 down stream channels are locked, and my modem list a ton of corrected and uncorrected errors. Yes, I've unplugged everything, reset everything, etc. In the 35 years I've had phone, TV, and/or internet services, I've had problems maybe a dozen times that have required me to have someone come out and take a look. 100% of the time it has been their equipment/wiring.

Anyone wanna take bets on what time they actually show up if at all?

And the TV and internet are both completely gone now. No signal at all. I was hoping they showed up early, but there’s not a truck to be found on my street. It’s a crummy day so I think I’ll run down to Blockbuster and rent a couple movies.

Update:
Back up again, but the secret menu in the XG1v4 STB shows only 1 of the 6 tuners is connected which explains why the Xi6-T STB in the family room is streaming from the internet rather than from the XG1v4 over MoCA.

You need to watch the South Park episode, where this is addressed Big Grin. I’m sure someone will put it up!

You've still got Blockbuster in your area? Ours went out of business years ago.

You need to watch the Seinfeld episode where Kramer gets revenge on the cable guy

You need to watch... shit the TV doesn't work.

They may (or may not) show up in the afternoon. I'm sure when they were on the phone they promised you the world.
When the guy shows up, even he will be surprised at all the stuff they said he can do.
The previous appointment that they had given a two hour window could have had him repairing the lines across a freeway, etc...
Then they will give him your appointment three counties away.

If none of it works, they can all still blame it on COVID. Seems like it has become the ultimate universal excuse.

Another text! Led to this exchange with my wife when my text notification went off:

Wife - Somebody wants you to sub.

Me - No, it’s Comcast letting me know they are coming, again.

Wife - Oh, they’re coming today?

Me - Yes.

Wife - Here? To the house?

Me - Dumbfounded, quizzical look.

We don’t have a Blockbuster or any video store. My reference was meant to be a reflection on what happens when you rely on a single source for something and that source is suddenly gone. Could be computer chips, honest news, oil, etc. It was also meant to be a bit funny by poking fun at myself and family that when the internet and TV go out, we don’t know what to do with ourselves.

Is it the Basic Cable South Park episode or The Cable Company episode?

I got in a huge argument with Comcast years ago when they gave me my window for my appointment. I ended up sending my ex wife and my daughter to a friend's house because it got heated.
They lied to me, jerked me around and I finally had enough.
I finally went with a dish satellite provider.
I feel for ya.

Hopefully you get one that can fix the problem. We had the installer type tech the first time. He said all he could do was run a new wire from the house to the pole. The problem was down the line so he had to get someone else involved for that. It took another day or two. I think they said something about a filter or connection getting water in it or something like that.

I'll second that, at least in my area. Nobody who's gotten Comcast has stayed with them beyond the initial contract time frame. Then they go with Cox, which isn't outstanding but it is a ton better than Comcast.

I'd have lost it on someone by now. 1 phone call was all it took for me.
Not sure how you've kept it together for 7 calls but God bless you for your patience.

I just received another text and the tech is in his way, but it’s not too late for me to cancel.

I may have not made it clear, but the counts are how many times they have contacted me to remind me of my appointment.

Update:
As if the banging on my door were not enough of a clue, Comcast has just texted me to let me know the tech is here.

Guy seems nice enough, said he’s going to check the lines and mentioned that “maintenance” has noticed some interference and problems with other houses on my street. I did!’t ask him why, if they knew there were problems, someone didn’t get their ass out here and fix it.

I had Comcast for several years when I lived in an apartment complex. When Comcast connected someone for new service, they had a habit of some how disconnecting a paid up customer.

Whenever we saw a Comcast truck in the area, phone calls went out to neighbors to remind them to turn on the TV.

If you’re looking for alternative providers, I wouldn’t recommend AT&T. Our service has been out for three days now with no end in sight. It’s either them or Comcast. Not much of a choice.
