As for the dogs in restaurants, I won't eat anywhere that allows them if I know in advance. If I go and find out there's dogs in there, I'll ask to be seated away from them, or simply go elsewhere to eat depending on the situation.

I wouldn't have a problem with well-behaved dogs … or children.

I do see people taking dogs to places like Lowe's, or gun shows. For the most part they are reasonably well behaved. One guy did bring a dog into a laundromat where I was doing my own, and it shit on the floor. He did clean it up, but it shouldn't have done it in the first place. (Laundromats are worthy of a rant thread on their own.)

I have no dog in this fight, literally. I'm a cat guy, but like dogs. I get that some people don't want them around at times, but if you don't own the joint why do you get to tell others what to do? I'll fight and die for your right to express your feelings on this (or some other) forum, but that's the line. Don't express them to the person with the dog in the place that allows the dog in there. Go home and post online or to the folks who have expressed a care in your feelings. And don't get hacked off if someone says you're wrong. And vice versa. People can be (more or less) civil about feelings and expressing them right?

We eat out a couple times a week, weather permitting we eat on outdoor patios. Mostly at small, family owned places. We bring our dog with us, she's well behaved and well known by the staff at these places. We live in an area where folks vacation, not unusual for people to approach us, asking if they can pet our dog, theirs are at home.

We do not bring our dog inside at restaurants, Home Depot or anyplace else.

Yeah, not a fan of dogs in dining establishments...not even really a fan of dogs inside the house, but folks love their pets and I wouldn't expect people to base the rules of their business around my preferences. While I'm not deathly allergic to dogs, it does show up on tests. Some folks have it really bad and they have my sympathy for situations like this.

Otherwise I have no problem personally with dogs in public access places, depends much more on the owner how that turns out.

Which is exactly what seems to have happened. Nobody has said they confront the owner of the dog. Nobody has said they want to ban dogs in restaurants or other public places. Nobody is denying anyone their desire to bring their dog anywhere.

Someone came to the pitch your bitch section and pitched a bitch. Some agreed, some didn’t, and others clearly took it personally and started to make things up. If this goes another page I’m expecting a Nazi reference

This goes beyond pitching a bitch, this is flat out insulting. Insinuating someone needs therapy.

I counter with, and let me be clear, I don’t want Gustofer or anyone to “assume” that I assume everyone likes or accepts my dogs, I want all to know, I don’t give a rats ass if you do or not. I’m not asking to bring it to your personal property. I obey laws, rules, and property owner’s desires when it comes to my dogs. No part of that equations includes how anyone else feels about it.

This thread and a few others lately remind me of that video of the two dogs on different sides of a gate just barking and snarling their asses off at each other then as soon as someone opens the gate and they're face to face they change their demeanor and are all like, "oh, hey man. Wassup?"

This was just about a restaurant.

You seem very invested in needing others to share your opinions and beliefs. You don't need validation from others to make yours valid but you will always feel unhappy if you can't let go of your need to control people's thoughts outside of your own.
