Seems to me that all of that ebay identification on the package is an invitation.

As for my delivery, it's been 6 days now with no update on progress. I can't inquire until tomorrow. I'm the meantime the delivery pace is down to an almost pedestrian 9 miles per hour.

I truly expect it will be to 3-4 mph average speed before it's delivered. IF it is delivered. Fucking USPS.

Well well well. After only 11 days (when it was stated to be delivered in 3), my shipment finally made it. The math works out to a travel speed of about 5 mph. Not walking speed but just a very slow plod.

On the flip side of the coin, mailed a payment via UPS ground on Thursday. It was scheduled to be delivered Monday (today). Imagine my surprise when I entered the tracking number and discovered it was delivered Saturday - two days early!

Again, I hope and pray the USPS is disbanded and privatized.

I went in to the local post office today with my cut open package. The clerk was awesome and super helpful. We even had a nice chat about guns...he's an XD guy.

He got his supervisor to go through their system. Apparently it takes photos at every step in the process. It showed that the box was already cut open when it arrived at the local post office, before it even went out for delivery. So it happened somewhere upstream. He's going to refer it to the postal inspectors, who if they actually bother with the case should be able to track it back up the line and narrow down where it happened and maybe catch the scumbag.

I've messaged the seller three times to update him and still haven't received a response. I'm starting to wonder if the box isn't going to show the damage when the postal service first received it. I'm hoping the fact that there's proof that it didn't get cut open at my mailbox will at least help with my eBay claim.

What a PITA, but I've got to admit that I'm pretty impressed with the level of accountability and detail that the USPS's system provides, and the customer service of the guy at my local branch was top notch.
