I keep thinking that I should install a copper line T at the refrigerator valve, run a line up to the Keurig, and have a ball valve right there to get fresh water into the tank.

I'm lucky in that respect. Mrs. PHPaul doesn't drink coffee but always keeps the teapot full. Any time she refills the teapot she also refills the Keurig reservoir.

I think most Keurig models have a provision for a water tap. It'd definitely be nice to just gave it always full & ready. I had plans at our old house to run a feed line from our RO tap to the Keurig.

I don't go that far, but I do use filtered water from the fridge dispenser to make coffee. Not only tastes better, it cuts down on the mineral scaling in your coffeemaker/kettle.

Agreed, I have plans to put in a under-sink RO system. Never had any scaling issues when we used RO. No issues with the filtered fridge water now, but would love a plumbed RO line to the Keurig, if they make a water feed kit for mine.

I usually do the after-breakfast kitchen clean up. Part of my routine is refilling the Keurig, so it's always ready for the next use.
I keep a Brita pitcher on the counter, mainly used to fill the Keurig. Convenient, and with filtered water, the "descale" indicator doesn't light up nearly as often.This message has been edited. Last edited by: V-Tail,

I have the below Moccamaster. I fill it with under-sink RO system. Note the reservoir is clear, as opposed to most coffee makers that are black and you can't really see the inside reservoir. I used to fill it about noon each day so it's ready for the next morning. However, I noticed twice so far I would get some green scum/film/whatever in the corners. I **think** it was from the water sitting in it for ~18 hours each day and never really drying. We have city water, which has chlorine in it. The RO system removes the chlorine. Not sure if the chlorine in the water would've not allowed the green stuff to grow or not.
I only cleaned out the green stuff about 6 weeks ago, but I have not seen a return of the green stuff yet. It's slightly more of a pain to fill the reservoir every morning, but I wasn't too keen on that green slimy stuff in my water reservoir.
If you can get your hand inside your coffee maker reservoir I would suggest wiping down the inside corners with a white paper towel and see what kind of funk is there. You may be surprised...and not pleasantly.
The Moccamaster is designed to be taken apart. I completely removed the reservoir to get that nasty green funk out.
I also run a descaler through mine every 60 days. I run clean water through it 4 times after running the scaling mix through it to rinse it out.

I had some green scum in my Keurig, which luckily has a plain clear [not dark/tinted] reservoir. Washed it out really well & it hasn't come back. I keep a better eye on it now when I fill it.

My keurig is a foot from the sink. I just pull the hose over from the faucet. Only me in the house to drink coffee, so, if it’s empty it’s my own fault.

My parents kept a pitcher on the counter to fill the Keurig until the day I used the hose.

I just bought a Big Berkey water filter system. I bought the stand for it and I'll put it right next to my Moccamaster.
I'm not married anymore so if it runs out of water it's on me, not my cat Boomer. .
