Trying to spend money at Academy sports , for the sixth time. Need two pair of shoes, called four Academy's stores . I want to throw money at you for merchandise. It's kinda what retail sales is built on. Refuse to charge my card and ship me the shoes. Searching now for old fart New Balance in 14 4W. (35 years in retail and I charge sent merchandise every week, now all of a sudden it's impossible) Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
If they don't have your size in stock they won't sell them to you. They aren't tying up your money for product they don't have. Sounds like good business to me.

They appear to have a web site from which you can order things delivered to your door. So...? "America is at that awkward stage. Sorry, but your expectations are unrealistic. Your options are to either go in person to an Academy store, or order it off Academy's website. The individual stores aren't set up to handle shipping individual items themselves. They'd have to figure out stuff like shipping cost and sales tax for your specific location on the fly, plus deal with the packing and shipping without the benefit of a shipping department, and then have some mechanism to remit the sales tax to the appropriate city and state on the back end. Then the individual store would also be assuming the liability and hassle of dealing with any lost or damaged shipment. Instead, all mail ordering is done through their e-commerce website, which has systems in place to handle all those intricacies of a mail order, and then it's shipped from a central warehouse. It's much simpler and more efficient this way. All of the chain stores work this way. You can't call up an individual Walmart or Best Buy or Cabelas store and tell them to ship you something. That's handled through their websites instead. There may be a few mom and pop individual stores out there that would take a phone order like that, but not many these days. (When you were doing "charge sending" back in the day, I'm going to assume it was well before the requirement was put in place for businesses to collect and remit sales tax on all orders, even those from other states. That's only one example of how modern mail ordering has gotten more complicated.)This message has been edited. Last edited by: RogueJSK,

Like these? I just bought some at DSW so I know they have 'em too. But I'd bet they also would only ship if you ordered from their website.

Six stores have them in the back room. Waiting to be sold. The Standard is $8.00 per pair s&h. They won't xfer them to the fulfilment center to be mailed out. This "progress" is attributing to the down fall of civilization in America. Thank you for the heads up on DSW, there are two stores in my vicinity I will check them out. That picture looks like them. Because there's no need for them to do so. The fulfillment center already has them in stock in its warehouse. You just have to order a pair from their website. https://www.academy.com/p/new-...es?sku=white-14-eeee
Perhaps back when you were doing it, but not today. Nowadays, you can't ship a shoebox anywhere for only $8, not to mention also cover the business' additional labor and supply costs required to ship it.

Actually retail has progressed greatly. You have the world at your finger tips. It took more time and effort to call six stores when you could have had the order filled before you even made it through the automated phone menu system. You are actually the one trying to take it backwards. Why are you against ordering on the website? Are you concerned of fraud? Do you know the person you are giving ALL your credit card/bank info to over the phone?

The fulfilment center does not have my size in stock, The stores that I called checked the inventory in the computer. They can't send what they don't have. And The stores won't sell what they do have Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

Spoke with an operater at Academy working from home. I am shit out of luck, because the store managers have the final say as to what can and can not be done to satisfy a customer. So Hello DSW , Never shopped there so it will be a new and different experience. Thank to those choosing to help me out. Am Grateful. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. E-commerce killed send sales. It's just the way of things.

You're seriously overthinking and overcomplicating this, bendable. Click the Academy.com link in my previous post. It shows those New Balance shoes, in a size 14 4E, are in stock and ready to be delivered to you within a week. You can order directly from that webpage.

Um. I think his original post says he's looking for a 14 4W. Is that the same thing?

Yes. E is a measure of wide width in shoes. 4E is 4x Wide. D = Standard width E = Wide EE = Extra Wide EEE etc. EEEE etc. Some shoe companies go all the way up to 6E widths. (Narrower than standard width shoes work the same way in the other direction, just using A's: A = Narrow, AA = Extra Narrow, and so on.)

The funny thing is I don’t think Academy uses a true fulfillment center. Every online order I’ve ever placed with them has come from an individual store, likely whatever store had stock of the items I ordered. Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

Page late and a dollar short |
Could be that the fulfillment center forwards the UPS, FedEx or USPS label from corporate to the store and all they do is to slap a label on and ship it. With all the CC fraud going on I can understand this also. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. That shoe says '608' on the back of the heel, I'm assuming that this is a model #. When my wife suggested DSW, I honestly thought they only sold womens shoes. Decent price, like $70. They seemed to have quite a few wide sizes in this model. One of the box markings didn't match the shoes inside and the difference was not size but width, so be sure what you finally select is the one you want. I used to wear these: Nike Air Monarch IV's but every single pair has developed a horribly loud squeak while they still are virtually brand new sometimes. Love em otherwise, but I couldn't live with the noise they make. I would avoid these.
