Sometime last summer i pulled in at the local station with my car. I stopped at the first pump in the line and got out. The driver pulling in behind me was visibly upset at me for not pulling forward to the second pump.

As he squalled, I pointed at the TDi badge on the trunk -- the D indicating diesel -- and looked him right in the eye, announcing calmly, "Diesel." H went on around me and slipped in beside the second pump.

I realized I'd been a bit of a jerk about it, and took a step toward him. "Sir, I didn't mean to be a jerk with you -- this pump is the one with the diesel hose and that one doesn't offer it. Otherwise, I'd have pulled forward."

He got a bit of a grin on and apologized for fussing at me, not realizing my car required diesel fuel. "I've done the same with my truck, man, I know where you stand."

We had a good conversation while our tanks got filled, and all was well. I'll admit, it was a little more tense than I would have liked for a moment. Lesson: "Take a breath... it'll be okay. There are plenty of pumps out there.?

If y'all just adopt new tech and get an EV then you'd be able to avoid these nuts all the time!

You trade one set of nuts for another. The gas station nuts become the gov nuts who tell you not to charge during the nighttime. To pay surcharges on your solar. Who want to track your every movement, location, speed (both accel and decel rates). Nuts to the right of me, nuts to left. Here we are, stuck in the middle again.

Yes but most of the time you'll be standing around holding your own nuts, waiting, at home...

Total disappointment.

I prefer Costco also. I like it when I get the front pump as it takes a little longer to fill the 36 gal. tank. Sometimes filling up from the back pump the 2 cars that are in front of me on either side have parked so far from the pump I don't have room to pull out and have to wait.

Costco does a great job,
It's not uncommon to see people from 20 miles away at their pumps in North Davenport, IA.



I watched a young gal pull into the Casey's gas pumps,
Just to talk on her phone for ten minutes.

There were two other broke pumps where she could have parked or five other spaces .
