Two of my office phones are landlines. One is specifically for faxes since it is a covenient way to send confidential medical information. Of course I have cell phones as well.
Both landlines have no dial tone. After one and a half hours of talking to India and getting tranferred no luck. I asked my wife to handle it. All they needed was my name and address and nature of the problem. Somehow I expected their problem solving to have improved.

Had uverse… many hours on phone with issues. One was a bad box, att sent the wrong replacement box… twice, before they sent a tech out with the right box. One of our appointments was a no show, after we got an automated txt that it was delayed an hour.

Allegedly they are going to put down the diversity quotas (yet keep their diversity groups) now that the damage has been done in an attempt to provide better 'service' before AI takes over everything.

When we had DSL and a landline, a tech told me to report when we don't have 911 service if we want quick help. That typically got a tech out that same day.

I may try that. At least I have a backup cell for the office. It took two hours of my time to convey that there was no dial tone on either line. India and then the Phillipines. It finally was fixed. The tech said Cspire cut the lines. I guess C spire did not want to bother to fix it. The ATT tech was a nice guy and tells me that he knows how it is because he hears it on every call. Several years ago the water department cut the fiber optic line. ATT had a guy in a Tyvex suit all night repairing. Apparently the bank was on that line and they have a contract for uninterrpted service. He said there was a large fine attached.

The day I decided to give ATT one last chance I was standing in a line at the most local service outlet.

I decided to call the location I was at and see what would happen. The phone rang, until I got tired of watching no one respond, and I hung up while walking out.
