Must be the Emu.

Liberty Mutual has taken the lead by a wide margin for having the worst commercials.

If it's not Liberty, it's the incessant My Pillow or Balance of Nature snake oil commercials. With their ad budgets, it's a wonder these companies make any money.

Whether they know it or not. And not so much the ads, the products.

That commercial alone is enough to make sure I never do business with that company.

Mrs. Flash and I were just saying this last night.

Actually I disagree. I am either an outlier and my brain doesn’t work like the majority or a lot of hoo hah has been sold to companies to the tune of billions and billions.

My brain sees these things and filters out the gist of them. I couldn’t tell you the brand that the emu sells. At all. Same with most things.

When I was a kid I think I could. Perhaps because they made jingles that resonated or perhaps because I wasn’t inundated with ads so I could recall products. Today there are literally so many commercials I tune them out entirely. Hell, half the time I just pick up my phone or iPad and read emails during commercials.

My point is that I believe advertising dollars aren’t worth what they used to be worth. No one wants to admit it because the entire tv industry would collapse. The odds of me buying anything advertised on tv are less than me dying of covid. Wicked small odds.

I know all you psych majors out there will tell me how wrong I am. It’s subliminal, you don’t even realize it. I would let you walk through my house and tell me where the correlation of purchasing to marketing is. I shop by price and taste. The marketing almost completely misses me.
