Have seen this with motorcycles. Picture an intersection with traffic lights. One rider stops in the middle and 30-40 riders run the stop light?

Yup, that's the way it works...

Another sport bike trick I've seen is a group of 20+ riding on a busy highway. When they want to change lanes tail end Charlie darts in between two cars with the traffic flow going 70+. He immediately hits the brakes and slows the traffic string creating a large gap that the whole group can change lanes into...He brakes fairly hard fast so no other cars can dart into the opening he has created... The car directly behind is usually not the issue, they are already on alert when the bike cuts in front of them...It's the cars a few back that don't see anything but the sudden brake lights at that speed...very dangerous...

I'd be willing to bet that 99% of the folks who are riding bikes on the road also have vehicles, and are also paying taxes. So it's kind of hard to argue that they're not paying their share.

No, actually it's pretty easy to argue - the gasoline and diesel taxes are for the vehicles which use gasoline and diesel and to maintain the roads said vehicles use.

If bike lanes are created or signs are erected which read, "[Bicycles] May Use Full Lane" and bike do ride in such a manner - they should likewise pat taxes to maintain the roads and have such signs erected.

And regardless of momentum or energy required to restart after stopping - bikes should receive the same moving violation and fines as a vehicle would for not stopping when required.

What is a shame (and I do ride a bike weekly, is how most other bike riders do not feel the same and would rather deal with scorn and anger of people driving their 3,000+ lbs vehicle vs the 150-250 lbs bike rider (plus weight of bie).

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

The obvious answer is massive tax on bicycles. Government is always looking for more money and if they can tax us on rainwater, then............

Just kidding. Bicyclist are protected under the LGBTQ banner

A road that I traverse daily to and from work is a favorite for local bicyclists. The road is slightly curvy, but has lots of blind hills and such.

These people are "rolling the dice" IMHO, because there is a concrete plant on that road, as well as other light industrial tenants, so there's lots of heavy truck traffic at times.

I have run off the road twice in the last 3 years, to avoid a head-on collision with someone going around a bicyclist. One was an 18-wheeler dump truck, and the other a 1-ton dually pickup.

I agree with tagging and insurance requirements, if they are going to be on "public" roads.

JMHO, YMMV.

I should not be required to share the roadway with a bicycle. Around here they are treated as some kind of protected class.

I'm fortunate to live in a neighborhood connected to a 10 mile paved trail that is perfect for biking and walking, without having to worry about cars hitting me. My days of riding in traffic are long behind me.

So who has the right of way ? Bikers or walkers ?

I don't know if many areas actually have an "official" ruling on it, but it's generally considered in this order anywhere that you're in a "non-motorized" paved trail or dirt/off-roading.

1) Horses
2) Walkers
3) Runners
4) Bicycles

Some parks/trails will even put up signage of who gets right of way, but on the opposite side I do know of one dirt trail that put up signage that actually shows bikes having right of way over walkers/hikers. But in that case the 11+ miles of trail were built 100% by the biking community (volunteers), not really something anyone will enforce but the Army Corp of Engineers allowed the signs to stay. And some parks will alternate who has right of way depending on what day it is.

The good, a very pretty smiling girl when lots of cleavage riding towards you. The bad, she passed right by and showed a splendid rear view but she is now out of sight. I think I want to sit down and cry. My dream girl and I lost her because of a stupid bicycle.

I've stopped counting.
