I'm writing the LLC's annual registration fee to the State Corporation Commission this evening, and I notice that the included envelope features an address in Binghamton, NY.

Soooo... Virginia is all itchy to get my fifty bucks, but they're willing to pay another company, in another state, to process the payment.

That makes economic sense, I'm sure.

As a former resident of Binghamton, NY I can assure you, they DO need the money! Smile
I recall Member David Lee has spent time there as well.

Kind of like in Michigan. Our Secretary of State aka the DMV charges a convenience fee when using a credit or debit card in person or at one of the self service kiosks. And if you use the kiosks there is an additional charge that goes to the vendor and most likely an out of state company.

If it's actually cheaper than setting up a whole department in the state, I don't see why not.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I needed a handicap parking hangtag and decided to forego mailing in the paperwork and try my luck with a visit to the Yooper SOS office.
It was deserted. Empty. No customers. Weirdest experience ever at the SOS.
(Apologies for the thread drift)

Certainly not the case in Southeast Michigan. I was shocked though. I had to mail in my request for the use of a 1982 license plate in lieu of a state issued Historical Vehicle license plate for my 82 Harley. Mailed the application on Saturday, had the registration back within ten days start to finish. I really figured it would be a month or more.

Yeah, there’s really no conspiracy here.
