New 30x80 about 3 years ago. 10x10 roll up door. No climate control so the door stays up if I in there. Every stinking day a bird would come in and not be able to get out.

Remedy: taped caution tape streamers to the bottom of the door to hand down to about head height. Almost a 100% fix...

Until now! just in the Padt week or so Humming Birds have decoded that like to fly in and are unable to get back out! as many as 4 or 5 at a time!

Some I netted with a long pole pool leaf net. some we are able to harass enough to get them to leave.

Wife has feed them for years so I wish them no harm.

Considering like a big screen door to cover the opening, would have to be a course enough screen for good airflow but fine enough to keep out little birds...

I don't know, maybe some kind of rollup contraption or sliding across a wire like a shower curtain.

Anyone else had this problem and figured out how to deal with it?

All the feeders the wife puts out are 150 or more feet away.

I have birds occasionally enter my separate garage when I leave the door up, generally finches or hummingbirds. Like you I seldom leave it up, only when working inside (changing oil, etc). The birds keep trying to get back outside through one of the small closed windows with screens rather than back through the garage door opening.

The streamers sound like a good idea. Maybe leaving the door up only 4' would deter them and still get you enough air coming in?

Have quite a few around here, (unrelated, but) make sure there are tree branches near all the feeders so they can zip back and forth instead of just hovering. Feeders are red because they like that color, anything red along the back wall that draws them in? also those ceiling lights will confuse them.

Framed screen (top hung) sliding barn door to the left side of the main door? (If the left side is the same width area as the opening)

Or there are "curtain" style screens that would need less room on the left when moved back from the opening.

Might need to add some weight along the bottom if breeze is heavy.

I believe they stopped making automatic garage door releases w/ a red ball on the rope for this very problem.

Other colors that attract them besides red are orange and then yellow.

It could be the yellow tape you have hanging.
