I’ll be the first to admit that I love Wendy’s chili. Is it the best chili, is it as good as my chili, do I care that they use yesterdays meat to make it? No, no, and no!! Is it delicious to grab when you de out and about it’s a little chilly outside and you want some tasty chili? Yes!! So I was fairly excited to see a can of Wendy’s chili in the grocery store. Did not really like the $4.99 price tag but such is life so I grabbed a can. Figured did not have much time before trick or treaters start arriving in 5 minutes. So my wonderful wife heated it up for me. Well guess what, it SUCKS! It tastes absolutely nothing like what you get at the restaurant. In fact for just chili name brand non name brand it is TERRIBLE!!! Ol Dave would be rolling around in his grave if he knew they were peddling that slop under his brand. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Try the Hormel Angus chili. A lot less than $4.99 and not bad for canned chili. When neither my wife nor I feel like cooking, I'll bake a couple of potatoes in the air fryer and dump a can of the Hormel Angus chili over them, top with sour cream. Easy meal. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Thanks for taking one for the team. I saw that in the store today and didn't bite. There's few things I like that come in a can. And while respecting the originals, the cans never improve the product. (Ok, I hear there's a clam chowder in the can that's great but I'm not counting that at this point.)

It's $5.99 a can here down in my area., and I heartily agree with you. And with V-Tail; just had a can of Hormel turkey chili with cornbread for dinner, it's not bad for the canned stuff.

That's because it was too fresh. You need to add in a bunch of days-old burger patties and then simmer it for a week or two in a rarely-cleaned pot.

I bought a can of Wendys' chili at Publix last week for $4.99. Now I afraid to open it. For canned chilli I like Wolf with beans. __________________________________________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit! Sigs Owned - A Bunch

I can't believe I'm reading this. Chili... In a can... A can? I'm going to "nope" right on out of this thread. And I'm a Yankee! The last time I got Wendys chili at the restaurant, I got home, opened the cup and there were 3 beans and a Tbsp of water. Wendys used to be one of my go to's if I had to eat fast food. Not so much anymore.

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
I've been buying the Marie Callender Chili with beans whenever they have a special going on. It's pretty good for canned chili.

Nothing wrong with chili in a can when you have about 7 seconds to get something to eat. Now if canned chili is the go to whenever you want chili, may be a bit of a problem there. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. The only time recently I've bought can't chili was when I get in one of my hot dog moods and I have not been impressed with what I got. Now y'all got me wanting to just try a can of chili on its own.... My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

The best consistently-available canned chili that I know of is Stagg. There are several varieties of it: Classic, Country Style, Laredo, others. But all varieties are improved by mixing in a broken-up 1/4 lb. burger patty cooked on my stovetop griddle. Serious about crackers

I'll have to ask my wife to look for that and buy a can to try. I used to like regular Hormel canned chili in a pinch. Was it "good chili?" No, I suppose, in all the chili I've eaten over the years, it was not what I'd call "good chili." But, it was good enough in a pinch and certainly not the worst chili I'd ever eaten. I can't say that any chili I've ever eaten from a can has been good. If there's any meat at all, it's got a strange mystery-meat-like texture but the last one I tried and it was Stagg, it seemed to be mainly starch-thickened tomato soup with chunks of tomato and some beans and a few sad pieces of said mystery meat.

I personally like Wolf chili with beans. Locally it sells for $2.00 - $2.50 per can, and it is close enough to my homemade that I rarely bother making homemade any more. Our nearest Wendy's still makes good chili, but the price has gone up so much (on the family size) that we probably won't get it anymore. My personal chili recipe has won more than a few chili cook-offs, so if Wolf can get close to that for $2.00, it's really hard to justify making it myself! _____________________________ Bill R. I thought about getting a can myself but am glad I didn't. I miss the old Skyline Chili restaurants.

Yep. They sell this at Costco. For canned chili, it’s pretty good. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

Skyline tasted odd to me, the few times that I tried it. It had a spice that did not blend well (for my taste) with chili. Clove, or cinnamon, or something. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
