One other thought. Since the alcohol helps temporarily and it’s basically a topical treatment (I’m assuming it starts helping right away and you don’t have to drink enough to increase your BAC), has anyone tried low dose cannabis edibles to see if they have any similar effect?

There have been a few people on FB that have tried that and no luck. I am now on the mindset that I may have LPR which is a sort of reflux that isn't acid, but caused by Pepsin, which becomes gaseous and causes my throat issue (the feeling of something stuck there). Of course, the cure for this is to stop drinking alcohol, and cofee, and stop spicy and acidic foods. These are all things I love so it's gonna be difficult but I have to improve my diet if I'm gonna beat this. No matter what the cause, adjusting my diet and booze can't hurt. These go to eleven.

It’s definitely tough to fix things with dietary improvements. Needed to lose 30lb a couple years ago at doctor’s urging to lower BP, blood sugar and minimize stress on old knees! Only way I could do it was thru periodic fasting. Really hard at first but eventually became easy. Good luck in your endeavor.

ask your neurologist about pregabalin or gabapentin...

Interesting about gabapentin. I wonder if that might help.. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

Neurologist did recommend gabapentin. I declined. I'd rather deal with the burning than deal with drug side effects. But if it got too bad I'd reconsider. She started me on B12 and alpha lipoic acid. The burning actually seems a bit less now but the feeling of something stuck in my throat isn't better. These go to eleven.
