Before The Mrs. sees them, they are indoor spiders.

Once she does, they fall into two different catagories: splots or outdoor spiders.

When I am in another room (apart from my wife), I can instantly tell when she has either encountered a bug of some sort and is destroying it, or is pissed at her windows computer and either bangs on it or throws something. How? I am suddenly surrounded by our 3 dogs, who normally hang out with her.

Yes, I leave the outdoor ecosystem to balance themselves. I have pointed out to my bug killing wife that she is not to harm the follow outdoor bugs near the house: spiders, wheel bug, or red/ brown/ or cicada killing wasps.

This thread creeps me out. We have giant Wolf spiders here. 4.5" wingspread. They are aggressive and will bite. Not poisonous, but aggressive. And freaking BIG!!! Kill the ALL!!

Okay, this triggered me.

I let spiders alone, inside or outside. I'm impressed by how they make their webs to catch prey.

I do remember, as a kid, chancing upon a spider on the floor. I don't know whether it was dead or just standing still. I remember touching it and seeing how it seemed to melt as these tiny spiders scurried away.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Yep...wolf spiders are known for having their young hitch a ride on mom and will scatter if she is disturbed...they take up a lot of space on mom and make her look huge until they abandon ship...it freaks my wife out big time when sees them do this...

I just remind her that Mrs. Wolfie is being a good mom Big Grin (she could do a better job shaving her 8 legs before she goes out in public though).

This. We get a lot of spiders inside the house as we live in a very wooded area. My, and the wife's normal response is to catch them and put them outside.

Don't kill them if we can avoid it.

Glad you told me. I have relocated a lot of them and never sensed that it was impossible.

Where I lived in the southwest Black Widows were commonplace. At work one evening I saw one in a corner of my office area. All I had nearby was a can of 3M Spray Trim Adhesive.

You can guess the rest. Was that Widow ever pissed off for whatever good that did. It had no chance to escape......

I discovered these this past summer. Killed 5-6, all just happened to be baby laden. Mad Learned to stomp while holding the bug spray to get the little ones.

Lots of black widows here in the AZ desert. Every tradesman I've had come here to the house is very circumspect when opening any outside enclosure, like an AC compressor, electrical panel, or inground plumbing box. They have taught me well to be careful also. The BW's don't live long when found, but there always seem to be plenty more.
