So this weekend’s project was to get the girlfriend’s RV that’s been parked for 2 years running again. Changed the battery, drained the gas tank and went to put new gas and fuel system conditioner in.

Bought 2 new 20L Wavian fuel cans from Sportsmn’s Warehouse. Filled them on the way home and went to dump them in the RV’s tank. Well they’ve got the EPA mandated spill inducing, “Spill Proof” spouts. First can in, raise it up, insert the spout in the filler neck, apply slight downward pressure to open the internal valve and start the flow,

CRACK!

The nozzle split in half, the coil spring that is part of the internal valve goes flying into low earth orbit and I’ve got Old Faithful of flammable gasoline erupting out of the filler neck all over me and the driveway. And this is supposed to be environmentally responsible?

Fuck you Dick Nixon for creating the EPA and not allowing us to have nice things.

Step 1...Buy gas can
Step 2...Buy funnel
Step 3...Throw gas can spout in trash
Step 4...Use funnel

Can't remember the last time I used a gas can spout.

Or, Choice B:

Hit the yard sales, and buy up every pre-nanny gas can you can lay your hands on.

Of course I'm a heathen and a scofflaw, I put gasoline in blue cans if that's all I have with me...

Or, Choice C:

Go to Harbor Freight, buy a battery operated transfer pump (frequently on sale for $7.99), insert the batteries, remove the gas nozzle, insert the pump, and quickly drain the gas can.

One of my pet peeves, modern fuel cans. Mine are all older or ‘modified’. I just gave the brother a spout to put on one of his old cans.

I’m convinced, whoever dreamt up the regulations never routinely used a fuel can.

I keep 4 of those cans for household yard needs and hurricanes. The donkey dick and most of the apparatuses I've used suck. I use a siphon.

Atlantic British on Amazon still appears to sell the legacy Wavian spouts that came on the cans years ago. Not cheap any more, but not yet unobtainian.
