I needed a good reinforcement stickershock therapy, so I visited the local Ford dealer on the way home from the range.
Bad fun pricing Mavericks, Rangers, F150's, Superduty's, Broncos, Expeditions, and Mustang GT's.

I'm cured. Eek

New vehicles are so far out of my price range that I typically don't even pay attention. But this past week they were shopping at work for a new squad car, and I heard the quotes. Holy cow! $10-13K more than last year for the same model vehicle, at the "bargain basement" state bid price for a stripped down police package Eek!

IIRC we got the 2023 Tahoe I'm driving now for somewhere in the low 40s two years ago. This year they're almost in the 60s. I'm not kidding when I say some of the quotes they got cost as much as my house. For a freaking car. That's just absolutely insane. This is why my car insurance costs so much.

Wish me luck folks!!!
Have 3 in line to do deals in the AM. Will be on the phone at 0830 and hope to be on the road to Detroit around 0900. It's everything down to a T that my wife wants. Minus a Black grille and wheels but I can handle that easily.

2nd Choice is in Columbus, Ohio
3rd Choice is in Findley, Ohio

Good buddy is making the ride with me.

Did any of them pan out?

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Unfortunately the top two choices were closed yesterday.

The Detroit vehicle is too far away now as I need a full weekday to get up there. Won’t have one of those for awhile.

Talked to the folks in Columbus today and am awaiting undercarriage photos.

We went with a local Auto Broker, he did the groundwork for us in searching for low mileage and good condition.

He knows his craft and works with auction firms to gather bids on our used vehicles and present us with different offerings.

This last vehicle was low mileage (under 35k), for a 2022 Tacoma SR5.

I recommend 'Kevin Hunter, the Homework Guy' on youtube as he/his wife have great advice when purchasing on your own depending on how you plan on negotiating if going to a dealership...

the handle?... it's Latin for "Lover of the Bow".

New vehicle prices are insane but people are buying them so prices will remain high. Used vehicle prices are high to and in some cases you're better off paying a few grand more and buying new rather than buying used. Im looking to replace my 2010 Tundra because it's starting to nickel and dime me so time to cut it loose while its still worth something. Ive found Cargurus is a good source to search for vehicles and gives you an idea if the vehicle is over priced, fair price or great deal.

The one thing that REALLY makes me nervous about buying a used vehicle 1-3 years old over a brand spanking new one is the whole flood cars thing.

There have been so many crazy floods over the past few years all over this country and you just know a lot of those flood cars are getting fixed up and sold.

Yeah,

Everything I have ever bought and driven was either going to or already in a junkyard.

Takes a few weeks of tinkering to get most of 'em road ready.

I'd rather get an $8,200 truck instead of an $82,000 truck.

Then you'll have to consider all the crap that the new(er) vehicles have. I don't have to worry about mine sending driving data to a marketer that bundles it all and sells it to insurance companies so my rates go up.

Don't even get me started about CarPlay, subscriptions, an app, or any way the car has to work with a f**king phone...

I’m just starting to dabble some. I have my 2017 Silverado, going strong with 182k. I use the motorcycle fairly often in the Summer.

I look a little at marketplace, Facebook. I wouldn’t mind a manual tranny.

That newer release(2026) Honda Prelude caught my attention, with its ‘fake manual’ transmission. With the right deal. I could live with an ‘easy hybrid’, which seems to be the new Prelude, Civic type gas/electric engine.

I bought my wife a new suv not long ago. I traded in my 2 door sports car- Challenger, I enjoy/prefer 4 door model vehicles more. Anyway, like you said, all they had were grey, black and white in the model we wanted but was actually looking for one in black or grey. I found one and got a good price on it. It took a while to finalize the deal as I had 2 salesman, 1 manager and apparently I was lucky enough to have a regional manager there as well, he was there seeing how things were. When I got home, I realized that all of our vehicles-mine, my wife's and kids all have black vehicles.

Have you considered the Expedition considering the engine issues GM has been having in those years? I'd be looking at Florida, we don't have snow and don't have any undercarriage issues at all.

Buyer beware: DO NOT use caredge.com AI to negotiate a deal. It borders on comical.
