They have fallen into the trap of focus groups and consultants telling them that people only want to hear Led Zeppelin’s Stairway To Heaven and Kashmir instead of the 50 other amazing songs they produced. It’s ironic because they originally billed themselves as this DJ-free, lots-of-deep-tracks and lesser-hits alternative to terrestrial radio but now they’ve gone full circle and become simply a satellite based version of crappy terrestrial radio.

I canceled forever because they took me to collections for $8 after being a customer for over 20 years.

I use CarPlay now and I’m 100% happy with it…

I had XM Radio 20 years ago and loved it but something happened when they merged with Sirius, seems like they became way more commercial-radio-like and only play the "safe" well known and (to me tired) hits when I tune into the classic rock or alt rock channels over the past 3 months now. I'm just not hearing any deep tracks, B-sides or lesser hits or any of that stuff anymore.

And I'm sorry but compared to Spotify Premium which I have, it still sounds very "tinny" and "hollow" to me and I have the 9 speaker premium system. My local indie radio station in comparison sounds AMAZING over HD radio!

The trial runs out next week and I will not be signing up.

I was a yuge fan of XM, listened mostly to Fred, Lucy and Ethel, with some jazz and bluegrass tossed in,

the merger sucked, as you mentioned, top type hits, and worst of all, Richard Blade,

can't stand that dude,

not to mention the other DJ that won't shut up,

dropped them long ago, now just us Pandora

Eventually, they got the notice and now just offer up the same deal on a renewal every year.

What worked for me years ago was to insist on customer service to get a real person, then once they were on line just tell them… I have 30 minute drive home, I can waste all your time, or we can just cut to the chase, get your supervisor, this is the deal I want and let’s be done in 5 minutes. Never needed the entire drive time. If they start to BS you, hang up, they will call you back and get serious.
The other ploy was to cancel, got some really nice offers via email that way also. Only took a week or two and service was back on at the price I wanted.

Did the dance this morning via their chat system on the website. Apparently the 2.99 per month for 36 months with no auto renewal is only for older vehicles with radios that can only get 150 channels, instead of the 8 billion worthless channels they offer. My wife really likes her XM and they did give me the 2.99 deal for her 2017 Lexus RX350.

I told them to cancel my 2022 F150 and 2024 Mustang but they had already charged me $70 today for the next month and being non refundable I would get no refund or credit for that. Had me a bit over a barrel because when they called my bluff and started the cancel they gave no credit. Ugh.

So I renewed those at $6.99 per month for 12 months then auto renewal to regular rate. That gave me a monthly bill of $19 for the 3 vehicles with the royalty fees and taxes, but I kept $51 credit to be applied to the next 3 bills.

I just set up a reminder in my phone to call them next year before the auto renewal so I can either cancel or do the dance again before they hit me with the huge increase to the regular monthly rate.

I guess I will have to play their game at least one more time, after I have used up the $51 in credits if I decide to cancel the truck and mustang, or next year if I decide to renew them.

That is not true^^^^^^^^^^^
We have that deal on my wife’s 22 Navigator L with the fancy Sirius and a bazillion options.

Also have it on my Tundra with a Sony aftermarket unit that has the crazy amounts of channels and options.

Not surprised that they would bullshit me. But when I called to ask for that deal the guy said I needed an email to get the 2.99 per month. I was on the phone and doing chat at the same time.

So I said ok cancel and they called my bluff. I acquiesced in order to not lose the $51 in credit. So while I tried to get the 2.99 per month for the newer vehicles they just wouldn’t give it to me.

This is a shitty business model and I will have to cancel before they auto renew and try again to get the 2.99 for the newer vehicles.

This is the first time I’ve ever had them actually go ahead with the cancelation process when I told them I was canceling when I couldn’t get the rate I wanted. Still $18.62 per month is $5 less than I’ve been paying for the past year.
