Gigantic Skeletons And Spiders On People's Houses For Halloween
When did it become a thing for multiple 12 foot tall evil looking skeletons and 15 foot tall spiders to be a thing all over or around your house a month before a one-night minor children's holiday? I really don't get it how some people go so crazy doing this now.

There's a Tundra at my daughter's school that has a giant skeleton sitting in the bed of the truck facing backward.

Eh, lighten up, it's a bunch of kids having fun with a holiday. It's probably something that takes little to no time to set up and their kids enjoy it.
Some folks enjoy Halloween more than other traditional hoildays.

I think it's become more an adult holiday than for kids now.

They are up there for the same reason adults get into it.
And why there are Halloween-themed episodes of TV shows. The Simpsons has done one every year.

I have no objections to the skeletons, but have you seen the prices on those things?
Just for a laugh, I bought an 8 pack of mini-skeletons (about 6" tall) for under $10 and spotted them here and there around the place sorta like Easter eggs.

What i want are little, proximity sensoring, frogs with red eyes. The kind where the eyes lights up and they "ribbet" when someone gets close.
Small like 3" in diameter.
Extra points if they can go off in a delayed, sequential fashion when one senses motion.
Want to place about a dozen in my yard. Lol

Yeah, I don’t understand why people want them giant sized. I guess they think bigger is scarier? And where do you store them?

Hell-o-ween is a waste of my time. But I am going to buy a new lawn decoration for this year’s holiday. Will be mounted next to the sidewalk the proximity sensor activated

I bought a 12ft Jack Skellington thing from Home Depot awhile back when it was on sale. It's in storage, never opened. I'm stuck in an HOA right now but am looking at some land to build my retirement home. The plan is to install this thing in the front yard and to leave it up year round. lol

I like’m. I like a good parade, fireworks on the 4th, and giant Christmas light displays too! And puppies. Puppies are fun.

The tractor supply store has skeleton chickens. They have small ones that are around 50 bucks and they have taller ones maybe 5 or 6 foot tall and I’m not sure how much those are.

Y’all, I frickin’ LOVE Halloween. It’s fun. My neighborhood is covered up in kids that evening. Several of our closest friends come over and we have a great time of it. We build a “campfire” in the yard, set chairs out, and have great fun handing out candy and glow sticks.
We don’t put out a ton of decorations, but I do enjoy seeing those that others put out. I drove by a house this week whose yard is about 4x the size of mine, and the entire yard is covered up in skeletons and other really creative decorations. Example: there’s a tent in one corner, with a skeleton coming out the door, and another skeleton manning the grill nearby. The neighbors down the street have the giant skeleton and the enormous spider, plus a pair of skeletons in lawn chairs, whose positions and football jerseys change every few days.
Like some of you guys, I do wonder how people put so much time, money, and effort into the decorations. And where they store it all in the off-season. But in the big picture, I think it’s a fun holiday. Mostly for the kids? Yep. But fun for adults, too. It’s a chance to get goofy for a bit. I think a lot of people view it as a nice distraction from all the serious stuff we have to deal with every day. And sometimes, the scenery is pretty good, too!
I like LS1 GTO’s idea about the prox-sensing frogs. The nerd in me wonders if I can build some.
(Snicker!) I saw a couple at Home Depot last October, trying to stuff one of those giant skeleton kits into a small Acura SUV. I wish I’d had time to stick around and enjoy that whole episode!

I'll have to snap a photo of the house at the end of my street. They go overboard with decor for Halloween & Christmas.

House not far from us never takes it in, they just adjust it for next holiday. Santa suit, hearts for Valentine’s Day, backpack for back-to school, etc. Brings a chuckle at the creativity.
-- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is.
2 families down the road, living across the road from each other, go all out with the skeletons. This year house 1 has maybe 10 skeletons dressed as Indians and a teepee with the Chief skeleton (casino, not computer). The other house has two large prairie wagons with drivers, a whole mess of skeleton cowboys, pet skeleton dog drinking from a blue tarp "pond.
Last year, skeletons in bleachers watching the skeleton football game across the street.
