Our Credit Union Got Rid Of Human Tellers At Drive-Through!

Expert308Our Credit Union Got Rid Of Human Tellers At Drive-Through!
My former CU has 4 drive-thru lanes, two with a human teller and two with ATMs. I never see anyone in the teller lanes anymore, so for all I know they may have closed them. My current CU has two walk-up ATMs on the outside of the building, no drive-thru at all, and real people inside. I usually use the old CU's drive-thru just because it's closer to home, for things like cash withdrawls and transfers. For deposits I have to drive over to the new one.

selogicI don't go to the bank very often but when I do I like to deal with a real person . I'm retired and my pension is direct deposited but I have a little part time gig that pays by paper check weekly . I swing by the drive thru and deposit it on pay day .
I also have a savings account at a Credit Union nearby and go inside because they have one of those cool coin counting machines in the lobby . Dump a bucket of change in and take the ticket to the Teller to deposit it . Cheap entertainment .

SBrooksOur drive thrus still hook you up with a human, just not sitting at that branch. They all sit in a main office somewhere and hook up with each drive thru in rotation on camera. Can deposit and withdraw, etc. just like with a real person.

mindustrialYup, our credit union opened one of those banks with no tellers, just kiosks that link you to a teller remotely. Since the new bank was near work, figured I'll stop in while running my errands at lunch instead of on the way home. I had to ask where she was, oh, at the bank by my house...I was amused.
Btw, The atm's here take checks, even get a check image printed on your receipt...or go online for a scanned image.

Why’s that matter?
And I have raised two...and currently drag around 4 grandchildren. Yup, ages 10 to 2 and we all get out to go into the Wawa or anywhere else for that matter. When two year old was baby, same thing. Held him with three little girls in tow.

V-TailI was in a bit of a hurry the other day, trying to get into WaWa, pay for my stuff, and get out.
There was this grandfatherly looking dude with four kids, youngest maybe two years old, oldest around ten. Kids were getting underfoot, none of them could decide what they really wanted, holding up the line at the register, it was a mess.

My credit union does have them at
some branches, but the only branch anywhere near me is located in a strip mall and there is no drive-through.
If I don't want to go inside and wait in line, I have two choices:
- Use the app that takes a picture of the check and makes the deposit remotely. This is convenient, I can do it in my underwear from the comfort of my own home, but the downside is they put a hold on it for three business days.
- Endorse the check for deposit, stick it in an envelope, and drop it in the night deposit slot. No hold on the check when I do it this way.
After I do the photo deposit from USAA, I have the funds released that second. I deposited a 10k$ check recently when I sold a car and immediately was able to use it. Having it held for days just seems wrong to me now...

striker1Many banks have gone to ITMs. They are Interactive Teller Machines during business hours, and then switch back to "ATM" mode for off hours. My company installs a bunch of these every month.

The USAA app is pretty stellar. Almost all my banking is through the app.
