I have pretty extensive experience with other pre-mix fuels:
- Maybe 25-30 gallons of Stihl, maybe more. A exact answer would require digging through years of credit card receipts. The best fuel I've used.
- Probably 6-8 gallons of VP. Really close to Stihl, at a lower price. When I can't get Stihl, this is my choice. It has a slightly more noticeable burnt oil smell when running a saw.
- I believe 2 gallons of Husky. Runs a little better than mix-your-own fuel, but not up to the standards of Stihl or VP.
Understand that our smaller chainsaws have fuel tank capacities of just under a pint. The larger ones are just over a pint. So....with a good 35 gallons of fuel burned, this converts to maybe 280 tanks of fuel burned in my saws. My B-I-L has burned maybe 5-8 gallons of VP & Stihl fuel in his saws, so combined we're well over 300 tanks of premix burned in our saws.

Our saws: Stihl -- 310, 390, 271, 261, 400. Husky -- 372.
We've run our saws year round, in temps of 0F to 95F. At altitudes of 5,000' to 9,000' ASL.
Our saws run consistently better with Stihl and VP fuel than anything else. They start well when hot, cold, and in between. They rev quickly, and easily to high revs. They're happy with full throttle, with a load or not. They idle extremely well. Their high-end HP is strong, their mid-range torque is solid. The engines don't sputter or die.

But hey, I'm just a casual chainsaw user. Just a few hours use here and there.

Lots of municipalities buy the canned gas. Especially here where there is no ethanol free available at any pumps.

Today I did my mid-summer ritual of topping off the 4 stoke stuff and dumped the remainder in my car. Fill the 5 gallon can tomorrow. Ethanol free 91 Octane with Sta-Bil.

If you're goin' through hell, keep on going.
Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it.
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there.
