This shrinkflation screws with family recipes that have been passed down generations.

Put in a 16 oz can of x and then all of the other ingredients are in proportion to it. When the bastards make it 14 oz or 12 oz the recipe starts to taste different or you have to start putting 90% of a tsp or tbsp of the other ingredients.

Just raise your prices and leave the size the fuck alone.

For extra credit, which high profile SIGforum member was part of that band?
It was parabellum himself.

When they go to metric 'smidgens' and 'pinches' it'll be game over...

America is the greatest country on earth! They tried to force the Metric System on us and we fooled them and used it only for bullets.

Manufacturers are now using it to cover for product shrinkage.

When did a half gallon become 1.74 litres ?

The booze industry made this change quite some time ago. A half gallon (really 1.89 liter) became 1.75 liter. For a while, you could buy either size, a true half gallon or a pseudo-metric 1.75 liter.

They did the same thing with another common size, the fifth (one fifth gallon, which is 757ml), which became the ubiquitous 750ml bottle.

Why 1.74 liter, I have no idea. Now that the 1ml creep downwards has been established, I expect we will be seeing 1.73, 1.72, etc. liter packaging.

I thought this would be a rant about engine options in 2024 automobiles.

Publix Premium (if you're one of the lucky folks who live in the SouthEast U.S.) remains a full 64 oz. half gallon, and is the best store-bought ice cream that I have ever had. $6.89 / half-gallon, but frequently on sale for five bucks.

I remember when Safeway dropped to a smaller size some years ago. Then, after a few years, they re-introduced the true half gallon, advertised as a "New, larger size".
