I’ve got this aunt; she’s a genuinely good person, but a little out there. She retired early due to disability and pretty much lives online now. Years ago, she got caught up in this whole currency revaluation thing with the Vietnamese dong and the Zimbabwean zim. She’s spent real money on it and fully believes, as surely as you and I believe the sun will rise, that this revaluation is inevitable and that she (and the family she’s gifted it to) are just days or weeks away from becoming multi-millionaires.

I try to be kind because I’m close to my family, but she is relentless. It comes up in every conversation. And on the surface, she’s an intelligent woman, which just makes it harder to understand how she got sucked into this nonsense.

Side note — I have a cousin who works in finance. She tried to gift some to him, and he politely told her that in his field, he’d be required to “claim and report” it… and that if he did, his coworkers would mock him and his bosses would seriously question his judgment.

He passed on her generous offer.

Meanwhile, my gold and silver are up substantially over the past few years. The dollar will continue to lose value, but buying Zimbabwe currency as a hedge makes no sense.

This just proves that ya'll both are Illuminati operatives sent here to suppress this important revelation so that the Rothschilds and Vanderbilts can hoover up all the Zimbabwean currency from under our noses.

(And for those that don't know, that's not a Photoshop gag... That's an actual bill that was printed en masse and used in circulation when runaway inflation/devaluation was rampant, before the currency was abandoned altogether. At the time, 100 Trillion was worth about $150 USD.)

I'm a trillionaire in the old Zimbabwe currency>I bought some on ebay as a gag. It's in my collection of stuff that amuses me like Saddam Hussein postage stamp a friend brought back in the early '90s.

That's the kind of wacky that can blow through a lot of dough on nonsense, quickly. Hopefully the heirs won't wind up with nothing but fluff, when she eventually passes.

Somewhere in my stamp collection, I have some uncancelled Weimar Republic postage stamps in 10,000,000,000 mark denominations. (1923's hyperinflation era). It got worse before it got better: here's a picture of some 50,000,000,000 mark stamps!

It's not a conspiracy theory, forex markets do exist. that said you're most likely better off gambling.

If I were so inclined, there is a single currency I'd consider and that's the Argentine Peso, but I'm not inclined to buy any.

It was the most probable route, and it played out:

– got the exact handle, as drawn

– got the high at 2011 highs (2089), as drawn

– got early 8 year cycle low in 2022, as drawn

– got the early 8 year cycle low at the exact level as drawn ($1613)

– got breakout above $2000 at end 2023, as drawn

So yes, technical analysis is not about looking back.

One can use the historical data to figure out what will happen.

Canadian Junior Stocks Have Been Left Behind, But…
Graddhy out of Sweden: Been saying for a few months that the secular bull for junior commodities companies is about to resume. And, it now is.

Yesterday TSX Venture gapped back up into the red volume thin zone. This, after a 3 year consolidation bottoming phase. It will now climb the right side of that rounded bottom/arc. Should mean that many companies with the V-suffix is about to move higher.

Been sharing the chart below plus other TSX Venture charts for 5 months now, showing how it is setting up for a big move.

Many will start saying they saw this coming. But they did not.

Graddhy out of Sweden: Gold is so far correcting more in time than in price, i.e. it is digesting the huge up-move by moving sideways instead of dropping. That is also what we have seen at recent weekly cycle declines.

Been saying since gold broke out 15 months ago that think it will have a historical lockout move, i.e. not backtest the breakout at $2000. And it has not, which have locked many out of the move.

Also said for 15 months, I think it will go to $3000-$3300 in this move. It got to $3500.

I find those kinds of projections for gold and silver unlikely to happen. Yet we know the spot prices are manipulated and the paper derivatives are setting up for a big failure. Lots of people are probably going to lose their shirts in the paper metals.

I hope his $15k target happens. It would be good for me. We sold some silver in the last week to take some profits and rebalance. Currently our portfolio is 5% physical gold and 15% physical silver. 0% Zimbabwean currency.

Over the Fourth of July, she announced that she’s updating her passport and planning a trip to Switzerland — apparently one of the few countries where she believes she can finally exchange her currency.

“The company,” as she refers to it, is supposedly having her turn over all of her Vietnamese dong; in which she has invested thousands of dollars; in exchange for gift cards to help fund the trip.

We held an intervention yesterday. It did not go well. She’s heartbroken that the family doesn’t believe in her or the story she’s been sold.

We showed her link after link proving this is a scam and pleaded with her to cut her losses and cash out whatever she can before losing everything; she considers everything she’s seen online to be misinformation.

What a shit show.

My buddy at one job had already lost Money and two businesses to investment schemes and bad deals, but was investing heavily at the time into Iraqi Dinar. I heard it all from him, often, and thought it always sounded pretty crazy. We only worked together for those a year or so between 2010 and 2012. Linkedin says he’s an insurance salesman these days.

So it’s really not a “conspiracy” but an outright scam. She’s more like a victim unfortunately.

Get the 'company' information -including IP address(es), email addresses and URLs - to state and Federal law enforcement. Also put blocks on those on your local WiFi and on her phone.

Also, if this hasn't already been done, it might be advisable for someone to 'misplace' her current passport to a safe place for awhile, and monitor the mail for the new one.

The current exchange rate for Vietnamese to USD is about 26K dong to the USD. Here's a link to a customizable graph (initial view 5 year trend) and this is what it looks like today:



The graph makes it look worse than it is (doesn't go to zero) but it does not look like she's likely to have made money buying and holding. I don't know where one could sell Vietnamese dong but hopefully she can liquidate to USD somewhere and not take too much of a bath.

How about the Nigerian naira? ₦1,000,000 is about $650.
