Now that I have your attention... it's not because I'm unamerican it's simply because I cannot get the flag to stay attached to the house.

I have a 4x6 flag on a 6ft spinner pole mounted to the brick facade. I started off with tapcon screws then tried two different type of brick anchors. I live on top of a hill and get some strong wind. I initially had the flag on a 5ft pole but it was constantly hitting the house and window. The 6ft pole helped but I think it's just too much force between the weight and the wind.

I guess I could get a cheap lightweight nylon flag instead of canvas.

The wife is not going to let me install a flagpole.

I needed something a bit smaller because of location. I have a 2.5' x 4' flag on a 5' pole.

Different wife? Just kidding. I actually attached a flagpole bracket with construction glue and 1 masonry screw. I had no choice, house was built with mountain stone and could not get a bit to drill a hole. I got one in a mortar joint, then used the PLxxxx glue.

Tell her it's a flag pole, or you paint the side of the house with the flag Big Grin

I had problems with our house mounted pole at our old house. We got something like Chicago-effect wind & lost 3 or 4 due to it.

Was looking into sturdy metal bases when we moved.
Have a flagpole in the yard now, and just put new flags up this week.

I had the same problem. Pole is attached to my brick house. When it got real windy I was always afraid that the flag and pole would tear out of the brick and damage the brick on the house. There was no easy way to bring the flag in if it got windy.
I ended up reducing the size of the flag and buying the least expensive and lightest flag I could find. No problems now.

When you say flagpole, exactly what do you mean? I put an 8' 4x4 in the ground and stained it and mount the flag to it.

I bought an American made flag and bracket. First windy day the bracket snapped in half. They call it cast aluminum, I call it pot metal.
Got a solid bracket that works well but I still bring the flag in on windy days. I think I used Tapcon screws. Bought a hammer drill for this one job. Smile

I have a backyard fence with steel rails. To fly my flag, I zip tied a length of PVC pipe to the steel railing, slide flag pole inside. Has held up fine.

Flag pole, flag pole. Would possibly need a bugle player when I raise and lower the flag with a rope.

Attach 12x12 slab of pressure treated wood to the house with tapcons then attach pole to wood. Or get a smaller, lighter flag.
