I'm starting to wonder if stores actually have any inventory at all. In the last week I've looked for what I consider normal items that I'd expect to walk into a store and walk out with. OH NO.... I have to order them for 1-5 day delivery. I can pick up at the store or have it delivered to my home. Do ANY stores have ANY inventory anymore? I mean seriously... why even bother with an actual store if you have to order everything for delivery. It's bad enough that now I have to wait on myself as all of your employees are shopping for other customers too lazy to drive to the store, but I even have to check myself out because no one wants those jobs either apparently. I used to feel the same way. I wanted immediate gratification or wanted to check something out in my own hands before I made a purchase. Now, it’s not worth the effort to find something unless I can guarantee it is in active inventory before I make a drive. I can have mot things delivered the next day through Amazon and many thing delivered on the same day so I just learned to adapt. Returns are ridiculously easy on Amazon too. I bring the item and a QR code and the UPS store a few miles from my house handles the rest. The generation that still finds comfort in brick nd mortar stores is dying off and soon we’ll be left with warehouses where traditional stores once existed. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

I think brick and mortar stores with actual inventory are going to become a thing of the past with the exception of the very big players like your Walmarts and Home Depots. I actually like the convenience of being able to order exactly what I want on Amazon and have it hit my doorstep 2 days later instead of having to get into the car and drive to a store for one or two items.

Thank you Very little |
Sure seems like that's the future of retail, large chains running everything, mom and pops fading out of existence. As much as I dislike feeding Bezo's wealth and political control, it sure is easy to click and buy from my desktop.

Not really a country thing but more of an economic evolution. Brick and Mortar is a tough go and not necessarily the merchants fault. Competition from under-cutters online, expenses to run a business, carrying costs all factor into it. No doubt it is sad in many ways but it is what it is. Put yourself in the merchants shoes and then decide if it is incompetence or just the risks of doing business today in a local environment?

When they tell me that I respond with "Well, I might as well order from Amazon, then. Right?" And leave. They do, but, they limit it to "fast movers." So they'll have three, four, a dozen different manufacturers and types of Thing A that a lot of people buy frequently, but, won't bother stocking any of Thing B that gets purchased only relatively infrequently. I suppose they've done their research and found that to be the most profitable way to operate, but, I don't see it. If I need three items to complete a project and the local store has only two of them, I'll just save myself the trouble and order all three items on-line ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That also means I won't be coming into the store to be tempted by end-cap attractions or whatever else might catch my eye while I'm there. I have spent most of my career in intralogistics doing systems for distribution centers, many of which support retail and E commerce. I understand that rare and slow moving or out of season items that would waste space on store shelves are better serviced at the local D/C. However most of the items I am searching for are popular, and definitely in season. Yet.... have to order it. Since have no opportunity to select it or examine it in the store the likelihood of getting the broken one increases. Then that whole return process.... because you didn't buy it at the store Pronoun: His Royal Highness and benevolent Majesty of all he surveys 343 - Never Forget Its better to be Pavlov's dog than Schrodinger's cat There are three types of mistakes; Those you learn from, those you suffer from, and those you don't survive.

Things definitely are not like they used to be. Remember when you could call a store and a human being answered, transferred you to the correct department, and another human being answered and helped you? Sure miss those days. NRA Benefactor Life Member

The success of a solution usually depends upon your point of view |
It is a 2 way street. I want to support the local business, and I am willing to pay a reasonable amout more for the opportunity to fondle it and the instant gratification of buying it now, but they need to have what I am looking for in stock. Offering to order it for is not going to cut it. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

I dont know, I'm getting into being able to order everything and have it quickly delivered to my house. If I never have to set foot in another WalMart or interact with another person, it's fine with me.

I like both options, but I do wish there was more in stock availability. Went couch shopping and none of the stores had what I wanted. They all pretty much had the same things, but not the style we wanted. Ended up finding and ordering from Wayfair. Would have liked to sit on one, test it out first and bring it home with us, but now we have to wait and hope we like it.

Except gun stores. When they allow mail order guns (again) then it’s game over.

What were you trying to purchase? I haven't had any issues finding what I need when I go shopping.

You have a dinosaur? That's really cool! What type is it? What do you feed it? I looked at the website, but I don't see Purina Dinosaur Chow. I wish I were closer, so I could pet it and take a selfie with it. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
