AI may be coming on strong, but cannot compete with real life human beings. Life is not that simple and AI stinks when it becomes shades of gray. English Professors who have years of experience can spot AI writing in a minute.

I think an AI answer is sometimes appropriate. This one for instance, about an uncommon ICE valve mechanism:

“WW2 piston aircraft engines and bullets”

Yes, the point.

It's not about "something to complain about", it is the actual incorrect information aggregated with some correct information that people who are looking for an answer but given worse than obvious false information with an expectation that "AI" is a credible source (as it becomes more "trusted" by those who cannot spot errors).

You are a subject matter expert on more than one topic.

Do some searches as might be performed by someone seeking answers on those subjects and see what I mean.

Those are things I have experienced in various matters where someone asks a question, and another does the "copy pasta" of and AI "ask" of that same question posed, and the "answer" often contains errors that if followed (instructions, techniques, etc.) damage, dangerous conditions and even serious injury or death may occur.

The issue of "brain rot" is most serious as critical thinking and "questioning everything" is a thing rarely taught or demanded in the general sense.

The longer I live, the worse it appears, and that is not simply old age cynicism. I truly am an optimist, built upon a realistic base using pragmatic blocks.

I "just Googled", for an example, the accessory belt routing for Dodge/Ram 4.7 engines. This is what I got. As you can see, a good half or more of the results are extraneous, some of them not even for Dodges, let alone a particular engine, at all. Once again, I don't need to be told this. I could have done it myself.

The problem with AI, as it stands at this time, is all artificial and no intelligence or even common sense. Example: bad narration of videos (discussed elsewhere). No, a .50 BMG is not "point five zero bee em gee" nor is WWII "dubya dubya eye eye." It can make some interesting art.

It depends. I’m with Kkina. If I don’t have personal knowledge of the topic and am interested in, I would post an AI answer and see what other people say. If I do have personal knowledge, I might still post an AI answer because it’s collated already.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
