Depends on the dog - she will focus on what is in front. She will probably be extra loving when she sees you. The cone also makes a handy treat catcher. | |||

Oh no — poor pup  That story hit home more than I expected. One of our girls did something very similar a year ago — she was 9, a bit stiff in the mornings, but still thought she could fly. Saw a deer, took off like lightning… and came back limping. Torn cruciate, plus some nerve damage from an old injury that flared up. We did the surgery (not cheap — I feel you), but recovery was long. She never fully got back to her old hiking self. We didn’t want to leave her behind on walks, so we got her a custom-fit dog wheelchair — honestly, it gave her back the joy of being outside with us. If anyone here ever looks for mobility options for dogs, we ended up helping set up a small UK-based project: Furria. Might be useful for someone going through the same thing. Sending you and your dog all the strength for recovery — these four-legged maniacs give us everything, and they deserve the best we can give back. | |||

We have a Yorkie/Bichon mix that tore her back right ACL at age 11. She's about 16 pounds. Vet suggested not to do the surgery because of her age. We elected not to have it done and 2 months later she was back to chasing squirrels. She just turned 16 last Thursday.
