I don't remember where I read this, but long time ago, I read that the original Murphy's Law was, "If a part can be installed incorrectly, somebody will do that." I think that it had something to do with a Human Factors Engineering study, connected to the U.S. Navy.
Newer interpretations of Murphy's Law say, "If something can go wrong ..."

Yep. Most gear boxes have different fittings for high and low side, but people can and do splice hoses or use adapters to screw things up.
