Don't read any further as there are major spoilers.

I can get by with some of the SWJ stuff they did in the movie. They had to throw in Q being gay and the comment about the bad guy being able to wipe out an entire black race. I enjoyed the movie right up to the end. Killing off Bond really pissed me off. I know we are not used to seeing the hero die in the end but Bond deserved a better ending to his life. Maybe some writer thought Bond was a womanizer and he deserved this fate. I grew up with Bond watched every film over and over again with my dad. I am sure right now he is rolling over in his grave right now. There were so many other scenarios they could have done. I would have even been ok if his daughter became the new Bond. They could have easily skipped years into the future and I would have been ok with that. The films don't seem to follow a strict timeline anyway. I am officially done with the Bond franchise and everything before No Time to Die still exist but No Time to Die can just die. Sorry for the rant but it is so hard to find a good movie these days and I had high hopes for the movie. They ruined Without Remorse and now they ruined Bond.

I might possibly have made an effort to see it before reading your post, as I like Daniel Craig as Bond.

I'll give it a pass based on your description. Thanks for that!

I waited for opening day. I was so disappointed.

The issue, as I see it, is that the owner’s of the character think they are in charge. In truth, the audience is in charge. And, you, Ms Broccoli, f’ed it up. Big time. In so many ways.

There is no mercy here. If there is karma, retribution, tit for tat, or in any way spiritual vengeance, I hope that the spirit of Ian Fleming makes the Broccoli household a living hell. For as long as it takes to convince them that the character of James Bond can never die. Ever. No Time To Die. Ever.

The movie has at its core a completely unbelievable love story, and without this believability, the entire movie is fraught with error. Beyond the SJW nonsense, beyond the inclusivity, its premise is flawed.

I am, in a word, angry.

I was sorely disappointed. It was my first movie in a theater in nearly two years. To sum it up——they jumped the shark. Bad on so many levels.

I think part of the reason they killed him off is because Daniel Craig doesn't want to play the character anymore. He's been vocal about it many times. Maybe he agreed to do one last film if they kill his character.

A similar thing happened with Harrison Ford and his Han Solo character.

It’s not really his character to kill though. Clearly they did so I guess I wrong but Daniel Craig didn’t invent James Bond or make it great. He was inserted into an iconic established role and he made a great movie, some ok ones and some stinkers. He certainly didn’t “make” the role his. He did well and I like him but he topped out at the first one which was great.

I’m all for a reboot with a different actor and we all just pretend he didn’t die/exist in this film realm. Kind of like we pretend a couple Star Wars movies just didn’t exist or were Bob Newhart style dreams. Lol

Plus I never bought into the great love story of Madeleine. Snooze fest. Double plus I always assumed a guy who literally fucked his way across the planet and space (thanks moonraker) would have his junk neutered or there would be little Bonds across the globe. Not buying that bs.

It was a good film. The fact that Bond was going to die was obvious for about the last thirty minutes of the movie. I mean, really? While he was putting the women and child on the boat, and he was staying behind... well, if you didn't know right then and there there that he was toast, in the fifth movie of the Craig series no less, then you truly are a plot Pollyanna.

I was pleasantly amused by the call backs to many of the earlier films. Gatlin guns out of the headlights! Classic Bond.!

I blew out my ankle last month and was still non-weight bearing when this came out. Out of boredom I watched all 5 Craig Bond movies basically in a row. I don’t recall ever really liking any one of them individually, but watching them all together I did really like them as a volume. Based on the contained story of that Bond I thought it was a very fitting ending.

They killed Bond and will do a re-start.

They've done it less explicitly every time they re-tool the franchise. He clearly can't be the same Bond that first appeared in the early '60s, so what does it matter that this transition to a new actor will be after killing the old Bond.

There will be new Bond movies. Judge them on their merits.

As to this movie, I thought it was okay, but not much better than okay. It was more old school Bond, with a cartoonish villain in an island lair with a far-fetched plot to destroy the world. Bond counters it with over-the-top action. Meh.

I much preferred the more realistic and less sci-fi Bond of Craig's earlier films - espcially "Casino Royale."

Casino Royale was the high point. They went down from there. This last one was enjoyable enough. I didn’t pay for it so it was worth that.

Last movie made that I would have gladly paid for was Finch. This one was meh.

Daniel Craig seemed tired, the series seemed tired, the hot actress romance seemed contrived and not very hot, etc. He also seemed old. Which I find odd since an 80 year old Harrison Ford still seems young enough in his roles for DC to seem old. Odd to me.

I think Harrison Ford is very adventurous, pretty much Indiana Jones in his real life so that comes through in his roles. Daniel Craig plays a great Bond, but I think James Bond is outside of his natural character so he probably has a harder time maintaining it.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I'm a Craig Bond Fan,
I like how the movies carry a theme, and a schload of references to the other movies,

and I also liked the back story,

Gay Q,, who cares, kinda figured that anyway,

didn't get hurt a bit with the gay black female 007, it is after all, just a number,

the nanobot stuff was a bit out there, and conveniently ended a lot of bad guys
(did anyone notice how the scene that Blofelt dies in , how the camera paid a lot of attention to Bond's hands,,,)

best one of the series ,, nope,

but remember, it is only a movie,

I saw it in the theater, will probably stream it when available, and buy the DVD

I suppose the producer decided that a death was more appropriate than a continuing unbelievable eternal life.

I suppose the producer decided that Bond would be viewed positively by choosing to die, rather than frantically seeking to live.

I suppose the producer decided that other characters (recurring) had died, and come back.

But, I cannot envision how the producer will recreate the character. Clearly the 1960s hero based on a cold war that has ended (?) has no significance to the audience of today. Clearly the films made where Bond overcomes simple criminals (Quantum of Solace, License to Kill) don’t work.

I suppose the only reboot possible is to find the one or two things that everyone fears, create a villain representing those, and concocting a fantastical story where Bond can combat our fears. And live.
