I've been a member of the Credit Union for decades. Keep a substantial amount in savings.

They used to run a free Carfax for members if you were looking at a used car. A nice perk, I think you could get 5.. I never maxed it out.

Well, I just found out. They no longer do that unless / until / after you file a complete loan application for a used vehicle.

I'me paying cash, no loan needed, so gee thanks!

Endeavor to persevere.

Things have changed at some places. Weiss use to let you get your bank rating for free. I use to check my CU from time to time.

Now you have to be a member which costs money or be a subscriber to one of his investment news letters.

This link looks at some of the major banks:

Looks like this link lets you check the rating of your CU...type in the name in the box:

It’s a credit union. Take out the loan to make them happy then turn around and pay it off. I did exactly that but because I was managing my cash flow in terms of I couldn’t get the cash inside of a week. Since it’s a credit union, the loan interest isn’t front loaded and there’s no prepayment penalty.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Ask the branch manager if they will wave it if you have a big enough account. That has worked for me,
