Save an Elephant Kill a Poacher |
Wife (and I) went thru it with her mom. Make sure, if not too late, her finances are in order, Power of Attorney, etc. Research NOW memory care facilities/group homes as they will probably be needed and vacancies in good ones are hard to find. They make those interior door latch hinged locks, up and over type, that seem harder for them to understand to open so it can help keep them in the house and not wander. Get a Life Alert type bracelet/necklace so they can be identified by first responders. And yes, a support group for you. These groups not only help us but they have tons of referral type info that is needed to find good placement homes should the need arise. My best wishes for you and your family as you navigate this. Going thru it right now with my mother. Long story short my piece of shit brother croaked (he was not taking care of her). He just got her to sign everything over to him and spent all her money. Anyway the son of a bitch bought the farm, so I moved my mother in with us. Yea dementia sucks big time she is 91 years old and talks about dead relatives thinking they are still alive and shits her pants daily. All we can do is humor her and take care of her the best we can. Op it's no fun, it DESTROYS your personal life. But until she gets so bad we can't take care of her, then we will look into nursing homes. And they are NOT cheap. Lucky are the ones who go quickly. I feel yours and others pain. | |||
