Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

Anybody have any idea why when typing in email, forums, searches, ect the curoser just disappears? I have to move my mouse pointer to the place it disappeared and click on it to resume typing.
It is getting steadily worse as time goes on, happened 5 so far times while typing this message. Never had any problems with any of my HP units.
Chromebook by Asus about 6-8 months old.

Not sure how this ended up in the What's Your Deal, I started in the lounge forum.
Sigh, I'm really about to throw this unit in the trash!

Is it possibly the touchpad sensing something and grabbing focus? One Chromebook's touchpad did that to me when my hand was just very close to it. Try disabling the touchpad and see if that still happens.

I don't own a Chromebook and have never used one, but I always keep the touchpads disabled on my laptops for just that reason. It's hard to avoid brushing the touchpad with your thumbs when you're typing. All of a sudden the cursor will just take off across the screen someplace.

You could powerwash the operating system.

My first guess would be brushing the touch pad and the system registering a tap.

Chromebook has settings that allow the cursor to disappear when typing. Youtube has videos that detail cursor settings. Typically:
Settings>Accessibility>Cursor and touchpad.

Windows also has similar settings but the cursor stays by default.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

^^^^^
That seems to be the answer, at least at the moment after a short test.
I turned of the cursor when the mouse is attached.

Thank you.
