The other annoying one is "Warning Door to Door Salesman"

It's like they shit their pants because somebody had the audacity to ring their doorbell. I don't care for door to door salesman, but I don't see a need to warn my neighbors nor be warned.

I could understand if they were doing something creepy like a 2-man team and 1 is ringing doorbell while other is checking side gate, but this is a harmless person (typically college student) trying to make a commission of a sale.

Hmm. I just checked Nextdoor and what should I see?

"I may be late to the game, but the past 4 nites helicopters have been flying circles between Hwy79 & Georgetown St about this time. Noticed 2 circling around the area but no search lites. Anyone know what this might be about?"

I think I'm going to restart my subscription. Every time a C130 flies over from Little Rock Air Force Base (every day, it's a training base for C130s and we're in the flight path) I'm going to ask what's going on, are we at war? Did someone attack us?

Ha! I live in Austin and it is VERY frequent for a group of military helicopters to fly in formation over my house. They are usually going from Fort Hood to any number of military bases in the area or in San Antonio or vice-versa. All the out of state people shit their pants posting what is going on because why is the military flying helicopters over the US??? I respond that they have to transport them to different bases for different reasons and they can’t drive down the road. Idiots.

Ospreys are pretty loud. If they fly to low they will lift the shingles off your roof.

I have one Ring camera and the Ring app is FULL of that! I tell them to check the electric company outage map. Most companies have one, it will tell you the reason for your outage, show you other affected homes, and an estimated repair time.

Try being on those calls when the busybody neighbors show up. It really pisses me off when it's a medical call and a neighbor tries walking in.

I can only imagine!!!!! Half the time (jokingly) I say, gee why don’t you go walk up and ask them. Apparently there are asshats that do!

One of the first threads I saw after I signed up was: "I'm on such and such street. Did anyone else heard a woman screaming for help?"

I said why don't you just call 911 so the police and come?

The person who happens to be a woman said she wanted another person to confirm so that together they can help locate the person so that they can give the right information to the police.

My response asking whether she can do the math to triangulate where the person is that needs help was removed for being disrespectful.

Sometimes I browse my local subreddit and it is similar. My favorite is when somebody sees an old Tahoe cop car or a white guy driving a 15 passenger van and report it as a possible ICE sighting. It's ludicrous for a variety of reasons but probably most so because the premise would appear to be that people who are afraid of ICE are checking Reddit before they go to the gas station or whatever.

where i work, people call 9-1-1 and ask when the power will be back on.

Not the non-emergency number (which you still shouldn't call) but actual 9-1-1.

Or my wife's busybody friends calling and asking her what's going on because they saw a cop doing something and they want to know what. Guess what...I'm either at work (hence not with my wife, and I don't constantly communicate with her about what I'm doing) so she doesn't know, or I'm off, in which case I don't know either, because I don't feel the need to listen to the radio when I'm not working. I mind my own business and if they need me for something they can call my phone. If what happened is pertinent to me, I'll get filled in at the start of my next shift.

Not on Nextdoor or Facebook, never will be. Busybody Karen's are the worst. I don't understand how someone's life can be so boring and empty that they have to meddle in the lives of everyone around them. Hell, not only do I not have the interest, I don't have the time or energy for it.

Yes, people are posting ICE alerts here if they see an unmarked car somewhere. One guy posted that a uniformed Austin Police officer driving an unmarked vehicle was knocking on doors asking if anyone called 911 because it was a cellphone and they hung up. He felt it was a ruse to drag anyone who was Hispanic out of their house and kidnap them….his exact words and thought. I tried to explain that officers in unmarked cars also respond to normal calls, but he wouldn’t have it. He said they knocked on his door because his last name was Cantù and then went on a rant that police only want to murder people, blah, blah, blah.
