Found a single ten I wanted. Had it shipped for free to a store 1 hour away. Went in today’s and their final recommendation was, “just get a Wisconsin ID” Oh yes, because that’s how hard it should be yo figure out a transfer for active duty military. Already did the refund. I’ll just find one to ship to the local guy I found. Nine years to retirement! Just waiting!

A little late now, but next time you find something at Cabelas online, have it shipped to your FFL instead. I would never do a transfer there after hearing about the horror stories. I’d rather just pay the $35 for shipping and do the transfer elsewhere.

Next time, bring a copy of the orders that assigned you there and a copy of a utility bill, etc. That's all that's required for Military to establish residency. Any dog can be a Guide Dog if you don't care where you're going. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

Do you really think that Bass Pro employee's will even be aware of this or that the automated register system will allow this? If you do you must be taking happy pills to be so optimistic. My experience with Bass Pro is that they are pretty much idiots only slightly brighter than those at Dickheads Sporting Goods. I really do miss Cabela's and hope the lazy grandkids who sold out go broke quickly and end up flipping burgers at Macdonalds. Bass Pro SUCKS. I've stopped counting.

I used to spend quite a bit of $$$ at Cabelas. Made an annual pilgrimage to the store in Dundee MI to root through the bargain barn in the back of the store. Then they quit sending the big catalog, which I spent hours leafing through. Now, I buy very little from them. And lots of their better stuff is on EBay cheap. To be clear, I’ve been active duty nearly 12 years. Purchased dozens of of firearms outside of Florida (home state). I took all required documentation and told them how to fill out the paperwork as this would be my 4th since moving to Wisconsin. Nine years to retirement! Just waiting!

I hear you. When I was a gun clerk we did a whole lot of service member transfers, often from Cabela's. The paperwork isn't hard, a copy of the orders and putting the right numbers in the blanks is all it takes.

Yes, I bought a Winchester 70 from them a few months back and it was a 2 hour ordeal of enduring their incompetence. My daughter can deflate your daughter's soccer ball.

While I have bought a few firearms at Bass Pro, some of the employees are just sad to watch. I am not sure if it is the management that makes them that way but everyone seems on edge/unknowledgeable when checking the paperwork, especially when I see military members buying a firearm. A few guys that are there that I have witnessed/done transactions with, try to share their knowledge with those that don't know but sadly falls on deaf ears.

ackshully, they, Bass Pro and Cabelas have a very good best practices workbook or pdf for completing a sale to a member of the military PCS'ed in state, step by step, line by line, tells them exactly how to handle it, provided the Mil person has the mil ID, PCS papers and proof of residence (for off base living quarters) guessing the folks at the counter had never heard of it https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Last time I bought a serialized item from Cabela’s was in 2018, a stripped lower. That was a nightmare, state resident, CPL, nothing funny just a straight up deal. It tuned out to be a three ring circus, enough that I don’t think there is any thing that I could want bad enough that they have on hand requiring a 4473 that I’d buy. Dundee is a shell of its past days. While I have a Cabela’s branded CC Capital One has been good so far. About all I do with the points is to buy ammo or clothing (not Red Head) for myself or the grandkids. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A.
