Dollars are becoming worthless. I'm experiencing more transactions where cash is not accepted. I took the family to a show. The coliseum was cashless. So this means I can't give the teenagers cash to go have fun.
I thought the statement on the bills: "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" meant businesses had to take it. This is not the case.
According to the fed website: "There is no federal statute mandating that a private business, a person, or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether to accept cash unless there is a state law that says otherwise."

Here's the link: https://www.federalreserve.gov...s/currency_12772.htm

There are a lot of advantages to a cashless society, but there is also a pretty large downside.

The same is true for a society that uses nothing but cash.

I really don't know how I feel about cashless at this point.

The government, and the leftist who control it, have had a goal of the cashless society for decades.

Not even getting into the debate about removing the gold standard, portable cash that YOU carry with you and YOU have full control of, leads to freedom of association, movement, commerce, on and on. By eliminating portable cash, and demanding electronic commerce, which is controlled by others, is just another step towards CONTROL. Can you sense a pattern here?

You, personally control access to your cash. You, Personally have zero control over any electronic transaction. A simple summer storm can render your card worthless.

I love my country and I love The Constitution of The United States. That being said, I feel like the frog in a pot of water. The water keeps getting hotter.
I'm going to write my congressman and my senator and will wait for the form letter response 6 weeks later.

I can see the businesses side too - their managers and employees are less likey to have a gun stuck in their face if it's a cashless business.

As an example, the place I get massages is cashless. If they allowed cash, on a Saturday they'd probably have $5k or $10k in cash. Prime target for a stick-up or hitting the manager on the way to make a deposit.

Is this not something the Left is concerned about? If people can’t make it to the ID-issuing places so they can vote, how much harder is it for people like that to get credit or debit cards? I would think that all the leftist states would have laws making cashless businesses illegal.

Anyone know? (I don’t get out much.)

I hope not. Do not see this in my lifetime. Too many people accept cash and decline credit cards. Try functioning with a credit card when the power is out for a month after a major storm. Bartering is not particularly fun.
Besides prostitutes and drug dealers, most handymen demand cash for their work. Cash is still king.

A few years back I was in Kailua Kona and the Credit card network or whatever you call it went out for most of the area. You couldn't use a credit card anywhere.

It was restored around 5 hours later but a lot of people were pissed because they couldn't get a drink or something to eat or whatever they wanted to buy for that whole time.

I always carry a certain amount of cash, so I was in good shape, but it was a good lesson (probably ignored) for a bunch of people.

To me, all the left cares about is control of everything. They don't care about people at all.
Voter Ids make it harder for them to control the outcomes of elections.
A cashless economy lets them track all transactions so they know more about you (like who is buying guns).

You understand that your cash is just as susceptible to government control, right? Digital banking just moves cash around on the back end, but having a pocket full of dollar bills and thinking you've got it handled is folly.

It's literally a sheet of paper with ink on it.

It's value and usefulness is 100% dictated by financial institutions and governments.

Sure, a few dollar bills in hand for a local disaster might be handy, but it'll likely have far less value in a global or national event. The government can literally just declare that the US Dollar is no longer official currency, and your stack of cash is worthless. It's not likely to happen here, but its happened in other countries.

Wasn't there a situation in Canada with the trucker convoy where the government froze accounts and gofundme refused to give them money?
It's too easy to turn off digital money if you do not comply.

The entire marijuana business is Cash ONly by governmental decree. They hire armed security. I was just thinking, much of the lower class does not use or have access to credit. What about them?

Movie theater in the city of Atoka will only take cash when you walk up to the window. They do have an ATM with a high service fee in the lobby for your convenience to get cash.

The strange thing is they will take a credit card for online ticket purchase on their website.
