Needed a 5/8ths reamer for a job. That's...ummm....5 divided by 8, decimal point goes over here...0.625

Except that I ordered and received a 0.0625 reamer from McMaster.

The price should've been a hint...

After going back to McMaster and checking the price on the one I needed Eek vs. the one I ordered, I got a Chineseum one from Grizzly. Just need to bore and finish one aluminum pulley, should be okay, right?

Right?

My brother repaired Caterpillars for a living for a long time, so quite a few of the tools he needed were plus size. After a few years of putting the snap on guy's kids through college, he came up with a new tool policy. When he needed something, he'd get it from Harbor Freight if he could. If he used it enough to break it, he would replace it with a quality version. It ended up being pretty rare that he had to pony up for the good stuff, and he ended up saving tens of thousands of dollars over the course of his career.

I have high hopes that your new reamer will make it through this first challenge!

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Gotta admit, I'm surprised they make a reamer that size.

Yup. Who knew? Can't imagine ever using it, but not worth returning.

You don't need a bigger reamer, you need a 1/32" line or cable.

Hey Paul, you are into diorama's aren't you. Now you have the perfect reamer to make a 1/10 scale model of whatever that life size pulley goes on to.

I've stopped counting.

Having enjoyed many of your project posts here I’m confident you can and will do it and I look forward to the post about the project!

In the machining world, the zero at the end is important too: 0.625 ≠ 0.6250

You mean like this?

I'm waiting on the reamer to arrive to finish the bore and then I can broach the keyway to match.

In my world that 4th decimal signifies a tolerance of +/- 0.0005 inch (unless otherwise specified). So it aint "nothin".

I've stopped counting.
