I think it is more important that the employee isn't effing around instead of working rather than what particular device is used. It's not so much that it is a gun site usually (maybe for some co's) than it is the lost productivity.

I've got 3 displays at my desk, usually have YouTube or Spotify running on one of them while I work. My company is pretty relaxed with access, outside of most classifieds & online gaming. Pretty much have a blanket whitelist for firearms. As long as you're getting your job done, mgmt is pretty relaxed with some idle browsing. Most of my posting on here is done from my desk, probably 60/40 to 70/30 computer v phone. The Enemy's gate is down.

Back, and to the left |
If it's that important, buy or build yourself a mini computer and get a docking station so you can switch to you own stuff for personal use. Those items can easily be small enough to zip tie underneath a desk completely out of sight. Maybe use your personal phone as a hotspot to connect.

Or get data service on your cell and avoid the network.

Yup...my place of work blocked anything (scary) gun-related. I would NEVER use my work iPad to look something up, but tried on my personal iPad not remembering that SIGforum was blocked when on my company's internet. Painted their little red wagon when I got PIA VPN. Able to get on SIGforum as much as I want at the airport. Only trouble is, I bought a 3-year plan to PIA thinking I could trick the internet while staying at an international location and watch hockey on ESPN+. Bad news for me...PIA doesn't support ESPN+. SUNUVABITCH!!!!! Wish I'd had known that when I was looking for VPN plans... "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Number of years ago I was doing some work for a guy who informed me he was a computer systems programmer and had gotten a contract to upgrade the computers at a local Baptist Hospital and he suggested to the powers that be a monitoring system be programed into all the computers.... they said they did not need this and he offered to supply it for a month for free... after the month he reported something like 80% of the computers were logging into porn sites for more than an hour a day....... Down the Rabbit Hole |
I worked for a large Fortune 500 company with a huge IT department. One morning, after being at my desk for 20 minutes or so, I got a call from our IT manager. He said someone at Corporate informed him that I had been downloading Gigabytes of data from a Porn site the night before. Since I know that never happened, I was quite amused. I invited him to come by my office and take a look at what I was downloading. What I was actually downloading was the latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server using my MSDN subscription. It wasn't the first time this mixup happened over the years. Their reports could be spectacularly wrong.
