I hate doing it but have no choice.
January 26th I ordered new control modules for my wife’s Suburban to update to the new maps, software, and allow for Apple CarPlay.
These modules have to be programmed to your specific VIN and since these modules technically were not available in 2015 it can be a pain to get the dealership to do it not to mention even more expensive.
I spoke with the fella on the phone multiple times when deciding what to order and made sure it would work as I had hoped.
Got an invoice but no shipping info. Contacted him on Feb. 26th for an update. He said my shipment was stuck in customs but would not provide me shipping info.
I inquired a few days later and said that someone messed up the shipping manifest and they were now officially lost. Still no shipping info would be shared with me. He said he would get a new set programmed and on the way.
Still had not heard from him so I sent him an email just to cancel my order and refund the money. Couple days later he said ohh, just happened to finish programming your new modules and I will provide your shipping tracking info shortly.
Crickets, crickets, crickets, I inquired again about tracking and now all of my emails are returned as undeliverable.
The phone number I spoke to him on just rings and rings and rings no answer, no voice mail, no call back, NADA!

Thankfully Chase/Amazon has always been helpful in the past with chargeback disputes. I have this one fully documented in email and the dispute lady was very thankful for that.

Shouldn’t be an issue. Good luck.

Yeah, I was on the other end of the range. Bought was looked like a snazzy kid's toy from an ad. It looked like some automation at a very low price like $17.

I get it and it's a puppet on a string and not a very good one at that.

Returned it for a refund on my dime. After several weeks of "we haven't received it yet" even after my tracking number. I called my credit card and the charge was straightforwardly reversed.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

And that is why you should use a credit card whenever possible for purchases, you actually will have a pretty good chance of getting your money back if you legitimately did not receive the good you had ordered.

Any time something like that starts
Start the documentation

The credit card companies will back you up
Especially with copies of emails and even notes on phone calls if you recorded the dates and times and who you talked to

I had no idea that was even possible. Do you have another source? I would like to hear more as I have a 2015 Suburban.

Here is another option though it is substantially more expensive (for the exact same thing). I have had zero interaction with this company.

I won’t fully blast the company by name yet I ordered through. Found them on YouTube (from people’s reviews not their channel) and spoke with the fella at length on the phone multiple times before I ordered.

The system in these rigs is not very good/easy to upgrade away from factory options.
Especially if you have the rear entertainment system. So using the newer OEM modules to achieve CarPlay I was willing to pay $700 to have the option to which also included the newest GPS map software which is $120 alone from GM. Compare to MVI which is $1200 I think.
I already have the PAC video/navigation in motion plug and play module so I did not need all
The other upgraded flashes available.

It is wild how folks will go silent on a customer for an extended amount of time, I think the cool kids call it ghosting these days, and they get a note from the CC company about the dispute and BOOM. Communication returns and is in overdrive.

The gentleman called and left a message apologizing stating that he had a death in the family and that is why contact ceased.
Kind of strange that the phone number which at one point had a way to leave a message, just rang forever, and emails that had been deliverable were all the sudden undeliverable.
Weird way to handle things.

He was kind enough to offer some more programming upgrades free of charge and then ship my modules. But also understood if I just wanted the refund.
Strange, I had been told they had already shipped TWICE. Also I did not really need nor would I benefit from those upgrades.
The CC already refunded me so I left a message for him saying I was sorry for his loss but feel at this point that the refund is the best option.

If we were dealing with a hundred bucks or so not really a big deal. But $700 and without these modules the truck won’t function I’ll error on the side of caution.

So he and his family will be in my prayers and we’ll just get along without CarPlay in the Suburban as we have been.
