Gearwrench has a 114 piece tap and die set I'd like to have to upgrade/expand my elderly assortment of taps and dies. I've seen it as low as $239, but it's been at $299 running up to Christmas.

I've been watching it expecting an after-Christmas sale. Yesterday it was still $299

Today it's $440. Eek

Fortunately, it's a "Gee, that'd be nice" rather than a "Damn, I need that". Probably should've grabbed it at $299 minus my 10% military discount, but I'm damned if I'll pay $440 for it!

Still on Amazon for $299, but that's still more than I'm willing to pay for something that's a convenience not a need.

I’ve been looking for a linear (not switching) 13.8v power supply to drive some ham radio gear. Only ones I’ve found were Chinese and they included this website note: “This item may be subject to a 41% tariff.” Wonder if HD might have been impacted by something like that vs. just plain gouging?

If Gearwrench products are made in China, that's quite possibly the issue. If Amazon's price goes up similarly that'd pretty much explain it.

EDIT: I checked. China/Taiwan depending on the actual product. Shit.

If you want something and the price is right the smart thing to do is buy it because if you wait 9 times out of 10 prices only go up with time.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. I checked, Amazon's price actually went DOWN a few bucks.

Do a search through Amazon then fleabay, that gives an idea of the baseline price. After that you have the used market or another alternative product.

If not in a hurry, I’ll play the game some. I recently ordered an Echo CS-590 saw off fleabay, new in box. As long as I get below the 10% military discount price at Home Depot, good enough.

Yeah, there’s taxes & shipping most anywhere too.

There's a website called camelcamelcamel that will monitor price changes on Amazon. You put in the price you want, and it'll send you an alert when it drops below that price.
