I'm looking for a sight pusher/tools to install sights for my Glocks. What brand/model is recommended? Can that tool be used for different pistols other than Glocks?

I have an MGW Glock, Sig, and HK pusher along with a Wheeler Armorers sight pusher tool. The dedicated tools can only be used with the brand specific guns while the Wheeler is universal. The dedicated pushers are almost bullet proof while the Wheeler takes a bit more to set up properly. It’s easy to mark up a finish if one doesn’t take the time to set it up correctly. That said, I would be just fine if the Wheeler was the only pusher tool I owned. If I was changing one a set of Glock sights I would grab the Glock tool, unless they were Heinie sights (preferred by me) which are not compatible. The wheeler handles them just fine. I guess it depends on what your other needs are and how often you will use it.

I recently acquired a Real Avid Master Sight Pusher on ebay for only $75 used. When I received it, it looks as new and has all parts. I have been wanting one for a while now and I have to say, it is by far the best pusher I have owned. It gives you a sturdy platform, secures the slide down at many points and is the easiest to use with the larger handle/crank, which takes less effort to add or remove any sight.

I have owned a few other pushers and some were a pain in the rear to work with and one I had even warped the large screw that presses against the sight. I now look in the safe to see which one I want to do next. You can find them on there pretty often.

I got my Real Avid Master Sight Pusher about a year ago and it has made changing pistol sights a breeze until now. I recently bought a Sig 229 DAO police trade in for a very good price. I can't say how old the pistol is, but it did have a one piece grip like the old Smith and Wesson 5900 series pistols. The night sight are no longer glowing so I bought HiViz sights to replace them. Even with my sight pusher, I can't get the front sight to budge. This is the obly failure I had with the "MSP". Anybody know of a way to remove the sights w/o paying a gunsmith?

I've been bouncing back and forth between a universal or a Glock specific system as Glocks are generally what I want to switch out.

CPD103, try putting your slide in the freezer for several hours. I haven’t tried it but it should help.
