Hello, long time no visit from me. I have a question that I wonder if anyone else has had this issue. My 229R, I went through the LE Academy with back in 2009. I remember the mag springs stopped pushing rounds reliably up into the slide and so I had issues with it feeding. The Chief Instructor, Dave, Arvada PD and SWAT guy with some others recommended I get the +10% extra power springs and the issue will go away. I have replaced these springs every couple of years now with the same issue repeating. I'm puzzled. It was my Duty Weapon when I was with the Sheriff's Office and is also usually my regular Carry. Have any of you experienced this, as well? The mag springs are the weakest part of any weapon system. The mags themselves are considered disposable. While not great to hear the simplest way to insure + feeding is replace the springs regularly. I have to replace springs in most every heavy use gun I use. $8/spring and no more worries until you have issues with them feeding again. Getting shot is no achievement. Hitting your enemy is. With SIG discontinuing the P229, is there a reliable aftermarket spring you all recommend? __________________________

Back a decade ago, I was doing some experimenting on classic Sigs to determine out how much the mainspring strength affected trigger pull weight. The guy I was talking to at Wolff said they were the OEM spring provider to Sig. Good quality springs. Note that Wolff, probably like most mfg's, doesn't test every spring. The test samples from each batch and some variation from spring to spring is expected and acceptable.

I had to change my recoil spring on an older service 229 and have had no problems since. The weaker spring allowed too much speed on the slide itself not allowing the mag to get the next round in place properly. YMMV Too many SIGs .. ... Nah not really
