I was going thru my mags, and found 3 me Meg-Gar13 rd out of curiosity tried them in a 229 and they fit. Put the 229 in 226 and it did not lock. So my question is are the 226 mags comparable to 229? Thank you for looking. This message has been edited. Last edited by: schrack,

I'm not sure I understand your question about "comparable", but I'll give it a shot. P226 is full size. P229 is a compact version of the P226. It has a shorter grip. P226 & P229 mags fit the same mag catch & slide lock, but since the P229 is shorter, a P226 mag will work in a P229 w/ part of the mag extending past the mag well, but a P229 mag is too short to fit in a P226.

Roger Dat, sorry compatable in other words will work in 229. My tablet changes words. Thank you for the info. After I retired Guns were on the back burner, but am getting back into them. Forgot lots of things.

Side note: It's not an issue, but... If you're using 226 mags in a 228 or 229 exclusively you may wish to add the adapter to cover the bald spot. https://www.midwayusa.com/prod...cGMVveWxO&pid=783459 "We're all travelers in this world.
