Hey everyone, so back in 1990 at 16 I desperately wanted a 4” King Cobra. Flash forward to last week I paid $1600 for a matte stainless, excellent condition in the box 4”. The DA pull is…heavy to say the least. No mechanical issues, I bought the Wolff reduced hammer spring and had 5 light strikes out of 18 rounds. I’ve read the parts are “sintered” and can’t be polished, if anyone has ideas on how to reliably lighten the trigger pull I’d appreciate it!

If you read a thread in the Pistols subforum, you will find the issue in lightening the DA trigger pull. Failures to fire are not welcome!

I inspected the internals of the S&W modern action, and find the new parts to be just fine. No, they are not hardened steel, and may not be what the old school gunsmiths can tune up, but my goodness, the pistol just works well.

I encourage you to simply use the pistol for a while, and NOT to seek a ligher DA pull. Focus on the different pistol mechanics, especially your support hand thumb position relative to the cylinder gap gas emission.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately OEM hammer spring same issue, Jacks First “OEM” spring light strikes. Found a guy in Houston that works exclusively on Colt revolvers. Hopefully he can figure out whatever is wrong with it.

Not a Colt guy. Light strikes on S&W are sometimes fixed with an extended firing pin. Also, some people clean the firing pin channel, to restore freedom of motion.
