I hope this question does not make me sound too bad, but I have 220 10mm Legion that I shoot a lot. I am looking to get a recoil spring replacement. Does the captive set up come apart ? Do I just buy a completed recoil spring assembly or can I just buy a spring ? As I look at the assembly I cannot see how you get an end off to take the spring off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !

You need to buy the complete assembly from Sig. I believe the part number is 1202817-R.

OP, You need to manufacture a spanner from a 6" common screw driver to assist in breaking down a SIG P220R5 10mm recoil spring/guide rod assy. In the muzzle end of the guide rod there is a double sided flat that needs to be clamped in a vise while slightly compressing the spring. The above is threaded into the guide rod.....don't loose it. Turn the rod assy w/ the spanner ccw. Caution.... the spring is approximately 7.5" in length when dis-assembled.
